We need very little excuse to embrace a fresh manicure. Whether you're booking in at the salon or getting the job done DIY style at home, there are myriad nail trends to choose from, whether French Vanilla Nails, Velvet Nails, or even Hailey Bieber's favourite glazed donut nails. One trend we weren’t quite prepared for, however? Duck nails.
What are duck nails?
Characterised by clunky acrylic extensions and bulky, fanned out tips so named because they resemble the shape of a ducks foot, the duck manicure has Y2K written all over it. If you're a dainty micro French manicure devotee, this look may not be for you. It’s not subtle. This manicure makes a statement. And there's an air of creative chaos to a lot of the designs, think nail piercings, label logos and painted in bright, bold polishes. And if TikTok is anything to go by, it’s coveted look.
The latest celebrity to extend her seal of approval to duck nails? Lizzo, who has always been partial to a bold manicure. Her 3D acrylic flower nails at this years Grammys were nothing short of jaw-dropping.
