It's the place created for hearts to be broken... or sometimes beautiful romances to be sparked. It's also the place where drama is 100% guaranteed. Casa Amor was introduced to the Love Island universe in 2017 during the third series, and it's become somewhat of a staple, with fans always expecting an explosive reunion with all the contestants.
Casa Amor – where the couples are divided and a whole new cast of hot girls and guys are brought in – has brought us some of the most iconic one liners, arguments and contestants, so naturally it was an aspect of the show that earned the most Ofcom complaints.
And now, Casa Amor has made its return for Love Island 2024. Bombshells have been dumped, villa couples are going strong, and Joey Essex is making his mark – and Cash's already bringing some big drama to the show. So while we wait for the chaos to really begin – and witness exactly how much fallout this year's antics will bring – join us as we take a look back at some of the most dramatic moments.
Ella Thomas
It's hard to believe it's already been a year since the shocker that was Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas's Casa returns. While the world was convinced playboy Tyrique would be the one to turn his head, it was actually Ella who broke Tyrique's heart after she returned back with Ouzy See on her arm. The couple did get back together, but they split earlier this year.
Whitney and Lochan
The proof that love stories really do come true, there's been no bigger Casa success than that of Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki. Our girl Whitney was having a tough time finding her true love, which was why the world was thrilled to see Lochan come in and sweep her off her feet. Of course, their union didn't come without tests (namely from other islanders who questioned how 'real' their feelings were). Considering they're still together a year later, we're saying very real...
Ovie Soko
Casa Amor cannot be thanked enough for bringing in arguably the most loved contestant of all time, Ovie Soko. There are not enough heart-eye emojis for this man. Ovie was originally coupled up with Anna Vakili in the second villa, before coupling up with India Reynolds. He was funny, polite, has the greatest smile and can cook – essentially the ideal man to bring home to your mum.
‘I was coming here to tell you that I loved you'
Before the second villa was introduced, it seemed 2019's Amy Hartand Curtis Pritchard were a match made in Love Island heaven – until a certain Jourdan Riane walked through the doors, that is. As Amy was debating dropping the L bomb once the villas were reunited, viewers watched in horror as Curtis’ head was swayed. Henceforth, the iconic ‘I was coming here to tell you that I loved you’ was born, and _Love Island’_s Mr Nice Guy became public enemy number one.
Andrew Le Page's 'tit lick'
Perhaps one of Love Island's most iconic Casa moments, who could ever forget Andrew Le Page's so-called 'titgate'. During his stay in Casa Amor, Andrew grew close to bombshell Coco Lodge. By grew close, we mean he became acquainted with certain body parts that not everyone got to see. Returning to the villa, Andrew had no choice but to come clean to Tasha Ghouri over his Casa antics. Cue the infamous 'I licked her tit or whatever.' It's all water under the bridge, though, with the couple still very much happy and together.
Jessie Winter finds out about Will Young's secret smooch
Jessie Wynter returned from 2023's winter Casa Amor to see Will Young stood alone waiting for her. Breaking down in tears, it was a reunion that got us right in the feels. However, the sweet moment was exactly that: a moment. Jessie quickly found out that cheeky Will had shared a kiss with Casa Amor girl, Layla Al-Momani.
Dani and Jack's Reunion
It’s no secret that fans of the show live for the drama, and who can ask for more when the Love Island bosses throw in an ex every now and then? In a turn of events that left everyone reeling and received 650 complaints to OFCOM, Dani Dyer was shown a clip of Jack Fincham realising his ex-girlfriend had just walked through the Casa Amor doors. But distance sure does make the heart grow fonder, as their reunion ensured there wasn't a dry eye across the nation.
Lillie exposes Liam to Millie
When Laura Whitmore asked the single Casa Amor girls if there was anything they wanted to say after the dramatic recoupling, the tension could have been cut with a knife. Before Casa Amor, Millie Court and Liam Reardon were one of the strongest couples. However, Liam's eyes wondered to bombshell Lillie Haynes on the boys trip away. When he came back to the villa single, Lillie exposed him for his cheating ways whilst in Casa Amor in front of the whole villa. Awkward!
Tanya's head turn
Tanya Manhenga was truly in her lovergirl era before heading to Winter Love Island 2023's Casa Amor. Admitting she was in love with Shaq Muhammed, it seemed like these two might be endgame... That is, until her head was turned. Gasps were heard around the firepit when Tanya strolled in with Martin Akinola, with even Maya Jana struggling to hide her surprise. As it so often does, this Casa recoupling was just another blip. It didn't take Tanya long to realise she still had feelings for Shaq, and after declaring her love in a very public speech, they finished in fourth place.
Kem returns with another girl
The first ever Casa Amor didn’t half set the standards high for drama, tears and memes. In one of the show’s most iconic moments to date, Kem Cetinay returned with Chyna Ellis, leaving Amber Davis high and dry. As other Islanders tried to remain passive, there was no hiding the shock on Amber's face, and the illustrious meme was born. A picture can show a thousand words, and it’s not hard to imagine the earful Kem was silently receiving that night.
Amber and Kem went on to win the £50,000 however, so all was right in the world again.
'I'm loyal'
If series 4 star Georgia Steel is anything, it’s loyal. She’s loyal to her friends, loyal to her man, she's the most loyal person to walk the Earth! Yes, we know the joke got old years ago, but don’t you dare forget she’s loyal. When Josh Denzel recoupled with Kaz Crossley, the nation were on the edge of their seats as they awaited Georgia’s reaction. As she turned around and collected herself, seemingly taking the high road, a small swell of pride overcame viewers for how she handled her emotions. But that lasted all of five minutes before the explosion impacted.
'Congrats hun'
As we all watched Callum Jones ditching Shaughna Phillips for Molly Smith in Casa Amor in the first ever Winter Love Island, we all feared the worst. Shaughna had stayed 'loyal' throughout and it seemed she'd be nothing short of devastated when she found out what Callum had done. But she rose above and became an internet QUEEN, when she instead said: 'I'm happy for Callum. I should have never trusted a scaffolder anyway,' before adding, 'Congrats, hun.' Honestly, you know those moments where you think of a good response to a fight six hours later... well Shaughna came up with TWO, while having her heart torn up on national television. And that's why we love her.
'May the best heartbreaker win'
Talk about a showdown! After the girls returned from Casa Amor to find out whether the boys had strayed, both Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope had chosen to recouple with some bombshells, Deji Adeniyi and Summer Botwe. Whilst you might think they'd be happy to know neither were left standing alone around the fire pit, the complete opposite happened. After some heated words over the fire pit, the jilted pair branded themselves 'heartbreakers', with Indiyah saying 'May the best heartbreaker win.' That's some top tier reality TV, we can't lie...
