It feels like just yesterday we were watching Married At First Sight UK. Who could forget the hurricaneNikita Jasmine, the Megan Wolfe and Jordon Mundellscandal and fan favourites Matt Jameson and Dan McKee declaring their love.
Another couple that captured the nation's hearts were Tayah Victoriaand Adam Aveling. They walked away from the Channel 4 reality show still together, with a real wedding in to come. The couple appear to have gone from strength to strength after leaving the show, moving in together shortly after.
Now, a year after meeting and tying the knot on the show, the couple are expecting their first child! They’ve come a long way from the iconic moment when Adam mistakenly thought Tayah’s bridesmaid was her… oh the joys of meeting your bride at the altar.
They shared their announcement with OK! Magazine, detailing their anticipation for their bundle of joy. Tayah admitted they were not trying for a baby. 'We’re obviously just very fertile!,' she joked. The pregnancy came as a total surprise for them both, but Tayah confessed that she could 'just tell' after four weeks, which prompted her to do a test.
She explained she actually did the test without Adam's knowledge so that she could film his reaction to the exciting news. Tayah revealed, 'I was about to set up filming it and call him up but I could hear him coming up the stairs so I just handed him the test and said, "Here!"' The couple revealed that it was very emotional moment for them both. Adam added, 'We both said we wanted to be young parents so we’re so happy it’s happened.'
This does also mean their official wedding has been postponed. Adam said, 'We’ve pushed it back to next year. We were going to get married on the date that both our parents got married so we were going to keep that tradition going, but now the baby is due around then so that can’t happen.'
The soon-to-be parents have already shared the news with some of their MAFS UK co-stars. Adam revealed, 'They were shocked but also they weren’t really, they reacted amazingly. It was so nice being able to tell them, Bob [Voysey] teared up! I filmed his reaction.'
Other co-stars have taken to social media to share their messages of congratulations to the happy couple. Mel Schilling, the show’s dating and relationship expert, wrote, 'Congratulations Tayah & Adam. First MAFSUK 2.0 baby!'
Morag Crichton penned, 'Congratulations @adamaveling @tayahvictoria let the next chapter begin.' Mariylse Corrigan wrote, 'Massive congratulations guys'. While Amy Christophers added, 'Finally I can tell everyone. soooooo happy for you my loves. Gonna be the most loved baby with all its aunts and uncles.'
Fans of the show will remember when Tayah opened up on the show about the fact she suffered a miscarriage with a previous partner, something which Adam has been supportive and compassionate about from the beginning. Viewers praised Tayah’s bravery after she spoke openly about how this tragic experience has shaped and affected her.
