Married at First Sight UK 2023 stars Tasha Jay and Paul Liba are preparing to take the next step in their relationship by moving in together. Speaking to Daisy Hall at the TV BAFTAs, Leeds-based Tasha divulged that Paul, who hails from Chesham, Buckinghamshire, is taking the plunge by relocating to her neck of the woods.
'Paul's gonna move up north,' she reveals. 'He's gonna be a northerner.' Paul adds, 'I'm used to moving about in life so I'm looking forward to it. But up north, that's the first time for me. I don't know how I feel about it - the accents!'
He continues, 'The plan is Manchester, but Leeds is looking more tempting by the second. Even I can admit that.'
The couple met on the E4 experiment last March when they married sight unseen and are one of the season's rare success stories. 'The fact we've lasted this long, we're doing something right aren't we?' Paul teases.
They are the only original pairing to have succeeded post-experiment, with Peggy Rose and Georges Berthonneau, along with Erica Roberts and Jordan Gayle, failing to go the distance despite renewing their final vows in the show. Meanwhile, Shona Manderson and Matt Pilmoor found love outside of the experiment, after their respective TV marriages to Brad Skelly and Adrienne Naylor didn't work.
Tasha jokes, 'I feel like we won. We're the only OG couple still together. Obviously Matt and Shona are together, they're such a good couple. But we won! We did it.'
What advice would she give to future MAFS brides and grooms? She says, 'Be yourself - you've got to be really thick-skinned and go in with the right intention.'
In March, the couple celebrated their first anniversary, marking the occasion with a sweet Instagram post of their date night.
'And just like that we are celebrating our one-year anniversary,' they wrote in a collaborative post. 'A year ago today we both said I do and now we can’t imagine life without each other. The first anniversary of many.
Here’s to the future.'
Married at First Sight is up for a TV BAFTA in the reality category, going head-to-head with Banged Up, My Mum, Your Dad and Squid Game: The Challenge.
