Made In Chelsea returned last night and as usual, it was not short of drama. We watchedLivand Tristan showdown, a confrontation between Ruby and new girl Sarrah, and Emily and Harvey hashed out their issues.

Emily and Harvey have been a mostly solid couple throughout the show, with a few road bumps here and there. However, this series has been their rockiest yet – and it not down to Emily. What is clear is Harvey isn’t really ready to be tied down, despite already being in a relationship with Emily. The couple’s problems stem from Harvey going out and partying all the time, despite Emily’s discomfort. He constantly put’s himself in questionable positions, and in doing so consistently chips away at their relationship. Then Harvey acts bewildered that Emily’s feelings are hurt- which is classic gaslighting.

Emily announced that she left her flat that she shares with Harvey thinking it would be a good time for them both to reflect on the issues within their relationship. Instead, she was sent a photo of a random girl in their flat partying which she revealed, ‘tipped her over the edge.’ Emily expressed to Miles, 'I feel like he wants to be out and not have to answer to me. Why am I questioning myself all the time, I don’t deserve that.’ She revealed that Harvey feels like he is being ‘suffocated’ – when in fact he’s just feeling the heat from being (rightly) pulled up on actions.

When confronting about his disrespectful actions he told Emily, ‘I’ve never done anything to hurt you or cheated on you and yet I still get treated like I have.’ He then ironically told Emily, ‘I need you trust me – I’ve done everything I can to prove to you that I love you.' When clearly through his actions he has proved the complete opposite.

He basically thinks that if he isn’t cheating, there is no issues – the bar is very low. Last week he even admitted, ‘I promise you I wouldn’t cheat on you before ending it, I’d end it first,’ which is truly all a girl wants to hear. No one would listen to this and feel reassured in the slightest. I think what Harvey is missing is it comes down to the principle of cheating, rather than actually carrying out the act of cheating itself. The fact that he is even putting himself in the position to make Emily FEEL disrespected and invalidated means he has no respect for her feelings. He makes out that cheating is the be all and end all – by reducing the only problem a relationship can have down to cheating is his attempt at trying to make Emily feel even more invalidated.

He never admits to the lines he crosses in a relationship, it’s infuriating enough as a viewer to watch, so I have no idea how she is dealing with this. What Harvey is doing is selfish and it’s a classic toxic move we have seen before. If he would like to party, get close to other women and push the boundaries then he should just remain single. Let Emily go instead of holding her back and consistently hurting her. It’s not fair and is emotionally abusive.

It is clear that any guy who truly wants to be in a relationship does not act like that. We know the boys are known to stick together on MIC, but even Rez and James pulled Harvey up on his faults. Rez concluded, ‘I think Emily is frustrated because she took the time and space to work on things, whereas you partied during that time.’ James added, ‘It’s insensitive from her side.’

It’s tiring watching women being stringed along and having to wait for the guy to show up and act right in a relationship. They should know when to alter their behaviour when it's brought up. If your relationship meant that much to you, you would do it.The gaslighting Harvey has displayed over the last few episodes have been extremely triggering. He whittles down his actions to ‘just being him’ … and that’s not good enough. Do better Harvey or be single!
