One of the TV hits of lockdown - along with Normal People and Schitt’s Creek - Call My Agent was a French comedy drama on Netflix. Originally called Dix pour cent in France, it followed the staff of a talent agency dealing with their celebrity clients’ dramas, with stars appearing as over-the-top versions of themselves including Sigourney Weaver, Monica Bellucci and Juliette Binoche.
The UK version is called Ten Percent but, despite sticking closely to the original French title, it will have a distinctly British sensibility. From the writers of W1A, the new trailer reveals there are many more ‘rights’ and ‘for fuck’s sakes’ than Dix pour cent.
In an Emily in Paris-style twist, the agency has run into financial issues and the only solution is ‘to sell out to the Americans’, meaning all manner of culture-clash comedy scenarios ensue.
