The inaugural iteration of Love Island All Stars might have concluded in triumph for Molly Smith and Tom Clare, but Georgia Harrison is equally worthy of a crown. After her second rodeo in the villa resulted in a fifth-place finish alongside Anton Danyluk, it's only fair to spotlight the non-romance-related reasons why she qualifies as our real winner of Love Island All Stars.
Before Georgia, 29, re-entered the villa six years after her first appearance, she had dedicated her time to tirelessly campaigning for stricter revenge porn laws following her own horrifying ordeal. In August 2020, her ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear uploaded a video of them having sex to OnlyFans after recording it without Georgia's knowledge on his garden's CCTV. When the case went to court, Bear was found guilty of voyeurism and disclosing private, sexual photographs and films, with the win only spurring Georgia's activism further. She entered the political sector to fight for change and even fronted an ITVX documentary, Revenge Porn: Georgia vs Bear, which explored her unthinkable torment.
Whilst Georgia chose not to dwell on her well-publicised trauma with her fellow islanders, many viewers interpreted her decision to not perform a provocative dance during the heart rate challenge as poignant based on her past. Instead of getting up close and personal with the boys, a bunny-clad Georgia opted to throw petals on them instead.
'I think we all forget the s**t Georgia Harrison has been through,' one voiced on X. 'She doesn't have to sexy dance for [any]one on camera, you do you, girl.'
Elsewhere, it is often a favoured choice of the girls to slip into racy lingerie when it comes to staying overnight in the Hideaway with their significant other, but Georgia opted for comfortable pyjamas instead. And despite not mentioning any ex-boyfriends directly, she did open up about past hurt when Anton asked her to be 'exclusive'. She said, 'I feel like I've had a really tough time, ended up with men who think I am disposable and always make me feel vulnerable, don't make me feel safe and don't declare how special I am to them.
'You doing that tonight was something I've never experienced before.'
Bear was released from prison last month after serving half of his sentence. Cementing that she is made of tough stuff, Georgia told Grazia ahead of Love Island All Stars, 'I don't really have much fear or any concerns about his release from prison. You know, his life journey now is his life journey and that's for him to figure out if he can rehabilitate himself, I have a restraining order on him. So I don't feel that he'll be saying anything about me that's gonna affect me. And for me, this is just the next stage of my life to move on to better and bigger things.'
She added at the time that she would continue to campaign, as she 'loves being a voice for women and violence against women and girls.'
Georgia is a prime example that you never have to be defined by hardships, nor do they have to overshadow your life. For example, when Anton mentioned during their exit interview with Maya Jama that Georgia was 'heartbroken' on entering the villa, fans speculated based on her reaction that she felt uncomfortable. Her reply, 'Did you have to say that?' led Maya to jump in with, 'You weren't heartbroken, you had something else that you were healing from.'
Georgia Harrison might not have won Love Island All Stars, but her strength will no doubt continue to prevail over all else.
