A family of six in Kent has recreated the song One More Day from the musical Les Misérables, rewriting the lyrics to be in theme with the UK’s current lockdown and have achieved viral success – cheering up far more people than they intended.
Posting the video on Sunday, the video shows mum and dad, Danielle and Ben Marsh, singing alongside their four children about the troubles of quarantine and the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis in possibly the most heart-warming (and hilarious) video on social media right now.
‘This is the last one we are going to do on a lockdown theme, but it felt very apt,’ Ben captioned the video on Facebook. ‘And it might be just in time to cheer up some friends and family who have had - or are about to have - birthdays, all by themselves.’
Noting the kids squabbling at the beginning of the video, the father of four continued, ‘[we] decided to include a bit of the intro so that you can see what kind of madness Danielle Marsh and I would be dealing with, if we didn't occupy them with music making...Hope everyone out there is doing okay.’
Since posting the video it has garnered 8.6million views, and nearly 300,000 likes. A smash-hit with social media users, thousands of people have commented online that it’s one of the best things they’ve seen in this lockdown. In fact, it’s so popular the family have been featured on BBC News and This Morning, where the video brought host Holly Willoughby to tears.
