John Krasinski’s new YouTube channel Some Good News returned this morning with a special performance from the cast of Hamilton for their biggest superfan, Aubrey.
The heart-warming moment was featured at the end of the 16-minute episode, which once again featured various news stories from around the world, particularly focusing on businesses that are making efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19.
From research students creating face masks for hard of hearing to small businesses creating protective medical gear, the episode highlighted a number of community efforts to help key workers during this terrifying time.
The episode also included a hilarious bit where Krasinski showed all of his apparent co-anchors around the world who had taken it upon themselves to create their own version of Some Good News.
‘That kind of behaviour is not only SGN approved but encouraged,’ he said. ‘I’m very well aware I’m only delivering the good news, you are the good news.’
But the highlight of the episode came at the end during a Zoom call with his ‘heartbreak correspondent’, nine-year-old Aubrey, who was the subject of a viral tweet last week when her mum revealed she had missed out seeing Hamilton because of Covid-19.
With a surprise visit from Emily Blunt, who happens to be one of Aubrey’s favourite actors, the Zoom call quickly turned from an adorable interview into an amazing performance.
As Lin-Manuel Miranda popped up on screen, supposedly ‘zoom-bombing’ the call, he began to play the opening of Alexandra Hamilton, and was soon joined by the entire cast of the Broadway show. Aubrey's little shocked face might just bring you to tears today.
