A UK printing company is offering free reprinting of wedding invitations for 100 couples who had to cancel their weddings because of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. When the UK went into lockdown last week, all weddings were banned in an effort to limit the spread of Covid-19.
instantprint, an online printing company, announced the competition this week, stating that 100 newlyweds-to-be will be picked at random to be gifted with a reprint of their wedding invitations – of course, when they know the new date for their big day.
According to 2018 data from Statista, 61% of weddings take place between April and August on average. Of the average overall spend of £32,273, wedding stationary costs average around £276.
‘In order to break the current news cycle, instantprint is keen to bring a little joy to some of the couples that have had to postpone their big day,’ the company said in a press release. ‘With the help of friends, family and even the couples themselves who send in a competition nomination.’
Entries are made by following the company on Twitter and tweeting a photo of the happy couple along with a little biography about them and the date of the cancelled wedding. With the competition running until the 10th April, they are sure to have a ton of entries.
We wanted to give something back to those couples in need of a pick-me-up
‘The current Covid-19 pandemic is and will continue to be a difficult time for us all,’ Jon Constantine-Smith, head of instantprint, said. ‘All of us are likely to be making sacrifices in the coming months and this is especially true when it comes to couples having to re-arrange their wedding day.
‘With this in mind, we wanted to give something back to those couples in need of a pick-me-up – and what better way for us to do that than with something free. We hope this small gesture helps put a smile on their faces.’
