The One With The Routine is quite possibly one of the best episodes of Friends, ever. Not because of Joey’s cute (awkward) New Year’s Eve kiss with Janine. Not because we finally find out what’s behind that locked door in the apartment. Not even because we were shown the brilliance of the Gellar sibling dance routine. It’s the best because it was when I finally came to terms with the fact that I’m a bit of a Monica.
You know in the opening scene when Chandler comes home to find everyone decorating the Christmas tree, even though Monica never normally let’s anyone else decorate the Christmas tree? But then normality is restored when Monica turns the tree around so that the fun, messy explosion of disorganised festivity that everyone else put together faces the wall, and the perfectly pristine and ever so elegant arrangement of decorations that she put together is all that’s displaced to the world? That’s me right there. I’d definitely do that.

I’m a big fan of all things Christmas and I’ve been waiting to go to town on some tinsel for a few weeks now, but let’s be honest with ourselves and say that as much as we’d love to wake up in a house that looks like Santa’s Grotto on speed, we’d quite like our homes to look nice (ahem, Instagrammable). Less ‘assualt on the eyes’ and more ‘look at all of these beautiful things I’ve got displayed without going into shock’.
With me? Great. Here’s some of the stuff you’re going to want to buy to achieve that low-key festive fun vibe, including decorations, wreaths and fun little touches that are perfect for Christmas.
