Uniqlo is the worst-kept secret of most fashion editors. Whether it's the brand's cross-body bag, its affordable cashmere or its miracle Heattech, the retailer's deft approach to balancing fashion with function is not only legendary but, more often than not, lends itself to products that find a cult following as soon as they hit the shelves.

When Uniqlo's viral tank first launched in spring 2023 - a ribbed and cropped racer-back design with an integrated bra - it quickly found an audience on TikTok. Creator Emma McEvoy's post about the top, where she shows off the in-built cups and styles it with jeans so a sliver of tummy is exposed, got an incredible 4.9 million views. The hashtag #uniqlobratop, meanwhile, has clocked up 2.7 million searches.

For spring/summer 2025, Uniqlo has doubled down on its ingenious bra range, increasing its offering from 11 to 14 products, which spans tanks, strappy tops and even dresses, which were introduced in 2024.

History is about to repeat itself because, as you can see from stock levels, the collection is selling fast. The Ribbed Bra Dress, a simple tank style made of cotton that's £34.90, has sold out in all four colours (a restock, thankfully, is coming in mid-February). The AIRism Cropped Bra Tube Top, which has detachable straps meaning it can transform into a boob tube and costs £19.90, is similarly almost entirely sold out in all five shades (sign up to get notified by email when your size is back in stock).

So what's all the fuss about? Well, this top practically has magical powers, with molded cups that mean you don't have to worry about tracking down your favourite bra to wear in the morning under something more fitted. I'll be investing in the brand's Ribbed Cropped Bra Fit Top, which has all sizes available in both grey and black, to style underneath blazers this spring and with fluid skirts this summer. Will it become as ubiquitous as the brand's Round Mini Shoulder Bag, which you'll probably spot at least three people wearing across their body on your commute home? Watch this space.
