In downtown Berlin lies the trendy hotspot Arena, which provided the location for Marc Cain to show its AW24 collection as part of Berlin Fashion Week, titled ‘Blend Boundaries’. Setting the scene, guests were welcomed into the venue with a glass of champagne, through a dark room that felt more nightclub than catwalk. Music started thumping, lights filled the blank space, and supermodel Romi Strijd opened the show in an off-the-shoulder tailored look.

The model line-up walked around a 31 meter lap, showcasing a collection that was full of some of what’s set to be the biggest trends for autumn/winter 2024. From playful takes on tailoring to elegant outerwear, a smattering of sparkle and head-to-toe colour blocking, this was a preview of what we’ll all want to be wearing towards the end of the year.

Here are our favourite trend takeaways from the show:

Sheer Showstoppers

I know it may feel like party season only just happened, but we are thinking ahead here. The canary yellow blazer, with a glittery transparent number is very much on my Studio 54 NYE party wish list.

Going Green

Green is set to be the colour of the AW24 season, seen at almost every show. But Marc Cain put a new spin on the colour with a sage three-piece suit worn with a trench, shoes and a fisherman knit thrown on top. The chic way to colour block.

Clueless Accessories

Berets, knee socks and mini bags were worn with pleated mini skirts and cropped jacket, evoking our favourite ‘90s film heroine Cher Horowitz.

Corporate Cool

Pinafore dresses with ankle boots, crisp shirts with denim skirts, boxy blazers with leather cargo pants – these combinations played with traditional tailoring to give it a cooler, more contemporary edge.

The Corsage Comeback

While the humble corsage enjoyed a renaissance last year, Marc Cain proved that it’s still going strong for 2024 – and beyond. Oversized white flowers were pinned to shirts, while a particularly striking green bloom was the perfect finishing touch to an emerald ensemble.
