Another day, another iconic celeb fashion moment. We're talking about Bella Hadid, who has packed a handful of vintage showstoppers for the Cannes Film Festival. This is nothing new, of course. A-listers and their stylists far and wide know the wow-factor that comes with pulling out an archive designer look for an event. Because some gowns are just too good to be kept hidden away in wardrobes.
The evidence? Julia Roberts at the 2001 Oscars. The actor won big for her performance in Erin Brokovich, but had already stolen the show with her dress, a vintage number from Valentino (circa 1992). A current advocate of all things vintage is Zendaya, along with her image architect Law Roach, who has also worn black-and-white vintage Valentino (the same dress originally modelled by Linda Evangelista).
Versace's '90s bondage collection has proved popular of late, with stars stepping out in safety pins and the brand's trademark chains. Elsewhere, Jean Paul Gaultier's iconic collections from the ages are appearing more and more (Pechuga Vintage's Instagram feed is basically a love letter to the designer).
And as for us 'normals', we've rediscovered the joys of rewearing outfits (Kate Middleton is a frequent look-repeater and has recently found a new love for vintage, stepping out in pillarbox red jacket that was 1940s Yves Saint Laurent).
