Didn't you hear? The noughties are so now. One Tree Hill is returning for a new sequel series, with Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton set to reprise their roles as BFFs Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. The '90s and '00s were an amazing time for TV and film — think Saved By the Bell, Clueless, The Hills — the list could go on and on. And while the shows themselves were incredible, re-watching them now makes us realise there was one thing that really made these programmes next level: the very specific-to-the-'90s-and-'00s fashion.
From denim on the red carpet to dresses so short they could be shirts, the '90s and '00s had it all. We've already taken a look back at the cast of Friends and Dawson's Creek, so now we're turning to Tree Hill, North Carolina to see how Lucas Scott, Haley James and co. looked on the red carpet. Spoiler alert: Brooke Davis always looked fabulous.
One Tree Hill on the Red Carpet
Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, 2004
The relationship between these two was tumultuous on and off screen: Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush were married for only a few short months in 2005 before calling it quits. At least we'll have this picture of his too-short tie and her frilly skirt forever, though.
Bethany Joy Lenz, 2004
Yes that is a denim maxi skirt, what of it? Only Teacher Girl could pull this off.
Hilarie Burton, 2005
Denim skirts on the red carpet were clearly A Thing in the noughties.
Sophia Bush, 2007
Sophia Bush at the 1408 World Premiere is all of us in 2007 — side bangs, strapless mini dress, matching clutch.
Chad Michael Murray, 2005
This is Chad Michael Murray at The Young Hot Hollywood Style Awards, which we imagine Lucas Scott would have also attended.
Hilarie Burton, 2004
Peyton Sawyer in this picture is all of this on a family holiday in 2004 trying to convince our parents that, yes, we are old enough to go out on our own!
Antwon Tanner, 2005
Skills, and only Skills, could pull this off.
Sophia Bush, 2005
Obviously Brooke Davis would sit Front Row at Fashion Week, in between presenting the latest collections of Clothes Over Bros and Baker Man.
James Lafferty, 2005
With jeans that flared and trainers that white, it's no wonder Nathan was the most sought-after bachelor at Tree Hill High.
Bethany Joy Lenz, 2005
It's 2005 — what else would you wear to a NYFW show?
Bryan Greenberg, 2005
Jake Jagielski was the best character on One Tree Hill and we will hear no other arguments.
Lee Norris, 2012
OK, Mouth is the second-best character.
Stephen Colletti, 2010
Short-sleeves with a tie... Why, Chase, why?
Robert Buckley, 2008
Robert Buckley played Nathan's NBA agent in later seasons (spoiler alert), and we can totally see him rocking up to a meeting in this get-up to secure Nathan a new contract.
Shantel VanSenten, 2010
Quinn James was very much the free-spirited, artistic James sister, as shown by this playsuit on the red carpet.
Danneel Ackles
Danneel Ackles played the extremely problematic Rachel Gatina, who started as Brooke's BFF and ended up married to Nathan's dad, which is the kind of thing that would only ever happen in Tree Hill.
Austin Nichols, 2010
After six seasons, we finally met someone worthy of Brooke Davis in Nichols' character Julian Baker. We don't think Brooke would've let him leave the house in suspenders and a skinny tie, though.
Jana Kramer, 2011
Why did we all think that high-to-low dresses actually looked nice?
