As if we haven’t had enough bad news in the last two years, our favourite Love Island couple are apparently now ‘on the rocks’. That’s right, according to recent reports, Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran are struggling to make things work outside the villa.

From the start of their romance, it’s been (a very fun type of) chaos. On the show, Toby flip-flopped from Chloe to Abigail Rawlings, to Mary Bedford and then – to the shock of the nation – had his head turned again by Chloe after she made a very impassioned speech making clear she wasn’t ‘gonna let someone take [her] for a prick — no WAY’.

We didn’t just watch reality show romance blossom that summer, we saw Toby’s own coming-of-age narrative arc culminate too. When he left the Love Island villa hand in hand with Chloe, there was a weird sense of pride in the air — like the player had finally grown up and found love in the process. Happily ever after.

Except, as we know too well, outside of fairy tales the story doesn’t just end there. Still, when thrust back into the real world after leaving the Love Island villa, everything seemed dreamy between Toby and Chloe for a while. They bought a house together in Essex. He scooped her up and carried her out of the Pride Of Britain Awards when her heels hurt. It was aw-inducing and enviably sweet.

But eight months later, reports have alleged that the strain is beginning to show in Toby and Chloe’s relationship as they’ve struggled to make time for each other in the outside world.

‘Chloe and Toby really love each other but their relationship has come under some strain in recent weeks,’ an insider told The Sun.

‘They are both really busy with work, so they haven't seen as much of each other, and there is the added pressure of transferring a reality TV romance into everyday life. It's not easy…Only time will tell, but neither of them wants to admit defeat.’

Grazia has contacted Chloe for a comment on the rumours as neither she nor Toby have addressed the claims. She is yet to respond.

‘They don't want people to see their romance as another reality TV casualty,’ the insider attested in their interview. ‘They’ve always been the real deal as a couple.’

After overcoming betrayal, re-coupling and public scrutiny, surely Toby and Chloe can make it back from the struggles of mismatched diaries for some all-important date nights? We hope so anyway.
