This morning, Azaylia Cain was trending on Google Trends after supporters of the eight-month old vowed to get her a 2021 Pride of Britain award. The nominations for Pride of Britain Awards are currently open to the public, with a Facebook campaign encouraging everyone to nominate Azaylia as parents Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee document her battle with leukaemia.

A GoFundMe campaign for Azaylia saw the couple raise over £1million for treatment for their daughter, who has acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). However, the couple were forced to break the heart-breaking news that Azaylia’s condition has since deteriorated beyond any treatment being able to save her life.

Now, the couple are bravely documenting the remainder of their daughters life online, with Azaylia currently on oxygen to help her sleep comfortably. Yesterday, she received a platelet transfusions to help her condition. Platelet transfusions are used to prevent spontaneous bleeding in those with extremely low platelet counts caused by diseases like leukaemia.

‘She’s not had an uncomfortable day today,’ Safiyya shared yesterday. ‘She’s been very very comfortable and quite sleepy. Hopefully later on, she wakes up and we can have some play time. If not we’re going to have a film day and have lots of snuggles.’

This week, a doorstep clap was arranged at 7pm to show support for Azaylia and the family with thousands taking part including celebrities like Giovanna Fletcher. Wembley Stadium, Clacton Pier and Radio City Liverpool were all lit up orange for Azaylia, with Coventry football club also paying tribute to her. Orange ribbons have been placed around the streets of Coventry, where Azaylia lives, with ‘Azaylia Cain orange ribbon’ also a breakout search term on Google Trends.

The hashtag #letsgochamp has also been used countless times in reference to her journey, with Dwayne Johnson showing his support by sending a video to Ashley Cain reiterating the sentiment. Now, supporters are hoping to ensure she receives a Pride of Britain award in an online campaign.

‘Come on everyone get voting for this beautiful little lioness,’ Kirsty Ramshaw posted in a Facebook group called Azaylia Diamond Cain journey to fight acute myeloid leukaemia. ‘She's captured the heart of some many thousands. My heart hurts so bad for this beautiful family, they deserve so much more than this nomination but the world needs to see the courage and bravery of this beautiful family and Azaylia needs to be recognised.’
