Sex and the City fans have set X and Reddit alight with speculation that Kristin Davis and Chris Noth dated during filming of the revolutionary HBO series.

A slew of cosy and playful photos of Kristin and Chris in the noughties have resurfaced online, with the duo - who are famed for their leading roles as Charlotte Goldenblatt and Mr Big in the SATC franchise - looking undeniably at ease in one another's company.

'Their chemistry is wild,' wrote one Reddit user, commenting on a photo of the stars embracing and intimately gazing at each other, and a second where the pair give off 'we're very close and comfortable' energy on the red carpet (namely Kristin licking his cheek).

Of course, we are talking about the pre-social media era where it was far more common for famous dalliances to fly under the radar, and neither Kristin, 59, nor Chris, 69, have ever publicly addressed the rumours that there was a romantic connection between them. But regarding the tense relationship their characters often famously shared on screen, Kristin did once respond to a fan theory that Charlotte and Big would have made a good couple.

'I personally think Big would have broken Charlotte,' Kristin admitted. 'Though probably some fun would have been had before the inevitable downfall.'

Despite this being said of their fictional relationship, fans have been quick to suggest that Kristin and Chris had some fun in real life.

The tweet that sparked the online conversation read, 'As much as I watched the damn show how did I not know these two were getting it on outside the show?' referring to Kristin and Chris.

One fan replied with a meme of SATC's Carrie Bradshaw - Big's love interest - (Sarah Jessica Parker), saying, 'WHAT?'

A second is adamant it is merely hearsay, replying, 'This was just a rumour because they were friendly at public appearances. I don’t think they actually dated', leaving a third agreeing: 'Exactly! Thank you.'

On a Reddit page titled, 'Does everyone know Kristin Davis and Chris Noth used to date?' one user questioned, 'Has this been confirmed? I always thought they were just goofing around', as another detailed, 'I remember early articles in blogs back in the day, nothing major, just a couple having fun on vacation occasionally.' Someone disagreed though, raising, 'I kind of thought something was going on during the original run.'

As the debate continues online, the idea that the pair might've been fresh out of a break up gives new meaning to the angry Charlotte we see in the SATC movie when her waters break from shouting at Big.

Of course, Chris Noth and Kristin Davis are no longer on speaking terms. The female And Just Like That cast members severed ties with the actor last summer after he was accused of multiple counts of sexual misconduct and assault in 2021. All of which he adamantly denies.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis released a joint statement on the matter saying, 'We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.'
