The lockdown rules around Christmas have finally been announced and now, three households can mix during the 23rd-27th December. Whether you're happy about the lockdown news or not, over at Airbnb, they're doing the most to ensure many of us still have a special festive season. Throughout December, there are tons of amazing wish-listed Airbnb's still available for Christmas breaks, with the best Christmas Airbnb's a click away.
Finding a way to make this Christmas work seems to be on everyone's minds this week. Whether it's booking a romantic break for two or finding an Airbnb for big groups where two households could bubble together, searches for Christmas Airbnb's on Google are up.
And after this week's lockdown announcement, there's still hope that we can get away and visit the best Christmas Airbnbs the site has to offer throughout December (depending on what tier your placed in) and if it's a Christmas outside the home you fancy, you can definitely bubble up with two other households for Christmas Day itself (from the 23rd-27th).
Can two households rent an airbnb together?
Well, there are a few things to consider. The easy part is that from 23rd-27th December, you absolutely can no matter what tier you're in as during those four days, up to three households are allowed to stay together.
The rest of December is where it gets tricky, as it will depend on what tier your area is placed in when they're announced tomorrow. Only in tier three will Airbnb's be forced to close completely.
'Accommodation such as hotels, B&Bs, campsites, and guest houses must close,' the government website reads. 'There are several exemptions, such as for those who use these venues as their main residence, and those requiring the venues where it is reasonably necessary for work or education and training.'
However, even in tier two areas the government states 'you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place.' Meaning, outside of 23rd-27th of December, you could only stay in an Airbnb within your household and support bubble.
In tier one, only the rule of six applies on indoor and outdoor socialising. When it comes to travelling across tiers, the government states: 'If you live in a tier one area and travel to an area in a higher tier you should follow the rules for that area while you are there. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier three areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier three area as part of a longer journey.'
With all those lockdown rules in mind, we've compiled a list of the very best Christmas Airbnb's for romantic couple breaks or groups of families and friends that are in bigger or bubble households should they wish to spend the festive season outside their regular surroundings. Because, what says Christmas like a snowy Welsh break or countryside castle?
Perhaps even renting a Christmas Airbnb with your support bubble the entirety of the season could make this year even more special than the rest...
