Now, people are searching for the meaning behind the statue, hoping to know more about why children were also included in it. ‘Princess Diana statue meaning’ is currently a breakout search term on Google Trends, as well as ‘Who are the children in the Princess Diana statue?’.

According to Prince Harry and William, the statue is meant to signify Diana’s love and strength as a symbol of her legacy helping others. Diana’s extensive charity work covered many areas, from fighting stigmatised diseases like AIDS and leprosy, to animal protection rights and fighting the use of landmines. But one area of charity work she was heavily known for was helping struggling children.

She was the president of Great Ormand Street Hospital for children from 1989, and in 1994 for helped her friend Julia Samuel launch Child Bereavement UK – which supports children of military families, terminally-ill parents and parents who commit suicide. Of course, as patron of over 100 charities while she was married to Prince Charles, Diana’s work helping people extended to everyone.

‘Today, on what would have been our Mother's 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character - qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,’ Harry and William said in a statement.

‘Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy,’ they continued. ‘Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison and their teams for their outstanding work, to the friends and donors who helped make this happen, and to all those around the world who keep our mother's memory alive.’
