We know your wardrobes are still craving sugary sweet pastel pinks but it’s time to give in to its cooler sister shade - blue.
The high street is awash with the ocean hue in the form of stripes, denim, bardot and utilitarian shapes. Having trickled down from the SS16 catwalks, the delicate shade has become the most coveted (and Instagrammed) by bloggers and celebrities alike.
Be it cobalt, sky or baby blue - the 'it' hue can be worked into your wardrobe through babouche shoes, off-shoulder dresses and woven beach bags.
With Serenity named as the Pantone Colour of 2016, blue is here to stay so we've rounded up the 8 greatest ways to wear the trend this season...
A Twist On The Classic White Shirt
Why not opt for a tailored take on the trend with a staple shirt? A crisp blue shirt (make it striped and you tackle two trends in one), will carry you from work to evening drinks. Simply half-tuck into high waisted blue Levi’s or if you’re feeling brave, tie the sleeves into a knot or wear your shirt backwards (it’s what bloggers do now). Finish with Birks or backless loafers and you’re set.
Statement Stripes
Perhaps the biggest trend to look out for this season, well, you can’t miss it. Be they horizontal, vertical, wide or pinstripe- you can’t go wrong with sartorial lines. We particularly love donning the trend in bardot form with collar skimming tops or v-neck batwing blouses - we're looking at you Zara.
The Slip Dress
The most coveted underwear-as-outerwear must-have, the slip dress. The silky, lingerie-esque number needn’t be saved for special events or infact, night-time. Bag yourself one in sky blue and layer over a simple white tee or turtleneck (the British summer is a minefield), for the definition of 'smart-caj'. Pair with v-neck mules or box-fresh sneakers to achieve sartorial triumph.
The Bardot
Cold-shoulder tops have been pinned relentlessly to our holiday Pinterest boards ever since we caught sight of Kendall Jenner's collar-skimming number. So we can't wait to get our hands on a bardot top in sky blue. Pair with distressed jeans and a pair of our favourite sandals this season and you're set.
The Boho Blouse Re-Imagined
Channel your inner Sienna Miller and think noughties boho- just with a smarter cut. Keep sleeves elbow length and opt for mandarin collars. Pair with clogs and stacked jewellery for festival glory. Just leave the oversized hat at home.
The Two-Piece
We have been lusting over colourful suits season after season and never fail to drool over the latest high-street drops. Remember the pink River Island two-piece last A/W? After seeing Georgia May Jagger’s achingly cool take on the coloured suit at Gucci Cruise 2017, we haven’t been able to stop lusting. So now we’re after a two-piece in cobalt blue. Take inspo from the dreamy suits shown at Paul Smith’s SS16 show.
Sport Blue
Beach Babe
Ah, to be by the sea. Dive into this summer's hue and don the most sought after hue by the beach. Be it a bikini or boho-esque kaftan, you're sure to be bang on trend and sartorially fit for the sand. Pair with espadrilles and a woven basket bag. Now all we need to do is to book a holiday...
