Challengers Is Officially Here, So Here’s Where To Shop Zendaya’s Best Outfits From The Film

Zendaya, Luca Guadagnino and JW Anderson - say that three times fast. Collaborating to create the ultimate culmination of fashion and cinema, Challengers is set to be one of the most sartorially-pleasing movies of 2024. Well, so far, at least.

The highly-anticipated movie directed by Luca Guadagnino (the mastermind behind Call Me By Your Name) follows teenage tennis prodigy Tashi (Zendaya) into adulthood as she navigates life after a career-ending injury, and as she's caught between two men who are in love with her. But, believe it or not, the movie's most intriguing element isn't the high-intensity tennis rallies or Zendaya's ménage à trois with Patrick (Josh O’Connor) and Art (Mike Faist). It is, in fact, the outfits.

The famed quiet luxury trend we see pop up every year at Wimbledon (think Kendall Jenner at the 2022 US Open) is brought to life in Challengers, as Zendaya assumes the role of a professional tennis player, coach and WAG - and an exceptionally elegant one, at that. Throughout the film, Zendaya is seen in an assortment of tennis whites (by adidas, of course), chic shirt dresses and floor-length gowns, all of which are strikingly effortless. Tennis-core has also been an integral element of recent runways, to include Lacoste SS24's green pleated skirts and polo necks, as well as Miu Miu's matching skirt and polo sets, fuelling the assumption that the old money trend is back - and here to stay.

It came as no surprise to discover that JW Anderson was the creative force behind the Challengers wardrobe, breathing new life into so-called performance fashion, an approach the designer has previously taken in the JW Anderson x Uniqlo Roger Federer collection, too. Taking to Instagram in 2022 to announce the big news, the designer stated: 'Very excited to be working with my dear friend Luca Guadagnino on costumes for his new film “Challengers” such a dream'. A dream indeed. And, Guadagnino is no stranger to a high-fashion collaboration himself, having previously worked with Raf Simons and Valentino on projects, and even directing a film for Fendi's signature Peekaboo bag.

Apart from the endless polished looks Zendaya serves throughout the movie, the actors press tour outfits are also something to behold. Just this week, Zendaya was seen in a custom plunge-neck Loewe tennis dress and white kitten heels, cleverly designed with tennis balls on the heel, proving - once again - that she can pull off just about anything. Before that, the Challengers protagonist was spotted in Paris in an archival Louis Vuitton piece from 2013, a 60's-inspired checkerboard dress, as well as wearing a lime green co-ord designed by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton in 1999 that same evening.
