This Zara Skirt Is Ruling Summer 2025, Proving That Sequins Aren’t Just For Party Season

Partywear for the daytime? This is how to do it properly.

When you think of sequins, it might conjure up images of the festive Christmas parties at work, Paris Hilton's dazzling 21st birthday dress, or perhaps the glitter you smeared across your cheekbones at a festival (only to spend the next 24 hours struggling to remove it). Sequins, particularly sequin skirts, have always been tied to special occasions and nights out, but this year, the sparkly number is crashing daylight hours too.

At Prada's spring/summer 2025 show, sequins were stripped of their usual glamorous context, as a silver gown was paired with a yellow raincoat, while at Sandy Liang, sequins were juxtaposed with lace – a reminder that sparkles don't have to always feel precious. It's a lesson that's made its way beyond the catwalks to the high streets, where Zara's newest Sequin Mini Skirt tapped into the same trend with a design that can just as easily be worn to garden parties in the day as dinner parties at night. Cut for a mini thigh-skimming length, its iridescent sequins catch the light for a sparkly finish while an invisible zip on the side helps you avoid having to shimmy out of it at the end of the night.

Zara knows how to do partywear like no other high street brand. Its sequin mini skirt features an invisible zip at the side for easy on and off, as well as an inner lining. Style with a button-down blouse or a bodysuit, and a pair of kitten heels.

Styling a sequin skirt in 2025 is less about digging out your trusty old platform heels, and more about balancing it with something more pared-back and, well, more grown-up. For the day, wear the sequin mini with a cotton button-down shirt, or a boxy t-shirt and flat sandals. Alternatively, for evenings out, style it with a bodysuit or blouse, or throw on an oversized blazer to look more pulled-together without losing the fun of said sequins.

Sequins have come a long way from their party-only past, as what once felt reserved for special occasions now fits easily into everyday style. Another bonus? You won't have to wait until December to take it out for a spin, either.
