As much as we've been dragging our feet and denying the fact it's not coat season quite yet, this week's weather, which sees a peak of 20 degrees, has us admitting that coat season is already well on its way. Marks & Spencer is leading the charge in dressing for cooler climes with an AW collection that's got everyone talking (and purchasing), like the viral jersey dress that looks great on everyone, a leopard skirt we've spotted on numerous influencers, and now, a coat that could easily pass for designer.

This isn't just any coat - you might recognise its striking resemblance to the TOTEME Shearling Jacket that retails for a cool £2,160. But, if you don't want to wave goodbye to your savings, M&S has once again, delivered a piece that captures the essence of the viral TOTEME style but with a much more accessible price-tag. The Textured Buckle Coat, £75 features the same collarless silhouette and buckle detailing that made TOTEME a hit, making it the ultimate alternative for those who want to channel that Scandi-chic vibe at a fraction of the price.

Last year M&S introduced a chocolate-brown version of the same coat, and it sold out in record time. For this season, the brand has re-released the popular style in an extremely versatile beige shade and the chocolate-brown. Curious about the buzz, I knew I had to track down the coat to try it on myself.

The fit is as flattering as it is comfortable, although I would recommend sizing down in the style - I'm usually a 8/10 but tried on a size 10 and it was quite oversized, meaning I could have gotten away with an 8. The buckles add a stylish touch, which is unlikely to go out of fashion anytime soon, and the cosy borg texture means you'll be reaching for the coat throughout autumn, winter, and the beginning of spring too - which takes the cost-per-wear down to almost nothing.

Whether you're a die-hard TOTEME fan, or simply someone who appreciates a well-made winter coat, the designer-looking coat is bound to become a staple as the temperatures drop. Shop the piece below, before it sells out.

We've seen an influx of coats from the high street, but this one from M&S takes the crown. With a brushed metal clip fastening and poppers for extra security, this is going to be the coat you're reaching for throughout autumn, winter and the beginning of spring.

It also comes in a gorgeous chocolate-brown shade.

If your appetite for something cosy and warm isn't satisfied, this jacket is similar with a (slightly thinner) textured suedette fabric. It also features gold buttons - a nod to the Chanel-inspired cardigans that went viral last year - and two front pockets.

Aviator jackets have been on trend for the last few AW seasons. This one from M&S has a zip-through fastening and borg trim and collar. It's also not too heavy, which means you can even start wearing it now with a dress or barrel jeans and a t-shirt.

A trench coat, much like the borg coat, is a staple in your wardrobe you'll keep coming back to, year after year. M&S is the place to shop if you're wanting to invest in a trench, and this one has button fastenings and a buckle belt at the waist to keep the chilly breeze out.

A borg bomber jacket is the perfect way of incorporating a little bit of cosiness into a classic green padded jacket. Not only does it provide extra protection against the cold, but it also ties in another neutral shade into your outfit. Style it with a pair of cream jeans or trousers, and some chic loafers.
