Selfridges’ New Exclusive Partywear Collection Is Already A Favorite With Supermodels

Ibiza may have so much more to offer than parties and paella, but its almost impossible to divorce this Balearic island from its after-dark scene. No wonder like De La Vali, which was born in Ibiza, is able to tap into the island’s long and glamorous post-watershed history. Just in time for the festive season, Selfridges has collaborated by this Spanish-founded, London-based label for a capsule collection of heavily sequined dresses.
With cheongsam collars and lashings of sequins, this collection could easily be the love child of Halston and Alexa Chung. ‘This collection is all about the glitz and the glam, think hedonistic nights at the studio 54, smothered glitter and dishevelled hair,’ says the label’s founders Jana Sascha and Laura Castro. It’s gloriously unsubtle, which makes it ideal for the Instagram community. Wear one of their scarlet mini dresses to revitalize your feed.
Like other nascent brands - thinking of Rixo and Kitri - De La Vali is emboldened by its social media fans. It just so happens that those said zealous fans have thousands upon thousands of followers. There’s Jean Campbell who has worn the Elektra dress in white, Suki Waterhouse who has a magnolia-printed Jean dress and Mary Charteris has it in leopard print, while Behati Prinsloo opted for a micro animal print dress. Rumour has it these supermodels DM’d the brand to make their orders. Luckily though, Selfridges has picked up the collection so shopping via instant messenger won’t be necessary. We’ve got our sights set on the Leon dress, which we’re planning to wear with patterned tights and Terry de Havilland wedges, naturally. But, if you want a sleeper hit pick the Jane top, which has Kate Moss written all over it.
The countdown to midnight 31st December 2018 is on.
