Fans of COS’ minimally luxurious – yet reasonably priced – aesthetic can rejoice as the next instalment of Atelier, its premium capsule, is here at last.
The grand unveiling took place this afternoon at Paris’ Hôtel d’ Évreux, where the collection of suiting, slinky knitted slips and twinkling ballet flats was seen for the first time on the catwalk. And you won’t have to wait any longer as the full capsule drops in-stores and online today.
The runway show marks the spring/summer ‘23 collection from the retailer's elevated line. Crafted in the brand’s in-house atelier in London, the collection plays with textures, silhouettes and fabrications for an offering that expertly nails day-to-evening attire.
An opulent, salon-style catwalk set the scene – creating a rather dramatic backdrop to COS Atelier’s quietly luxe take on spring/summer. A colour palette of black, beige and punchy tomato made for a subtle but suitably chic show. Finishing each ready-to-wear look was sturdy and structured jewellery (our eye’s already on a simple chain belt finished with a pearl; a perfect 2023 accessory worn easily with simple maxi dresses).
Elsewhere, highlights included a softly shimmering pair of ruched ballet pumps, proof the appetite for wearable flats and balletcore is going nowhere fast, and a floor-length khaki technical fabric rain-mac - quite practical, no?
A nod to the suiting of the season – the Bermuda-cut city shorts – came in the form of a black three-piece set, whilst heavily textured minis were layered over crisp white shirts. We want it all.
So, what makes the COS Atelier collection even more appealing? Perhaps it’s the timeless pieces that slip seamlessly into existing wardrobes. Perhaps it’s the price point which, whilst higher than COS’ usual lines, still makes designer-quality fashion more accessible. Or perhaps, it’s the fact that these are clothes that actually work in an everyday wardrobe - easy-breezy separates are simple to mix ‘n’ match and when heels did appear amongst the flats, the height was minimal. In short, these are clothes you’ll want to wear all day long.
