With the wintery weather upon us and payday just around the corner, there's no better time to invest in a whole new wardrobe. And where best to start, than with the one thing we'll wear everyday come winter? A coat. Which knowing how erratic the British weather can be, we'll be needing anytime soon.
And this week the high street saw outerwear drop, with everything from the trans-seasonal trench to the cosy teddy jacket. Haven't taken a look? Must be your obsession over the last of the summer sun but make sure to get in early and shop the drop before they sell out (and the cold hits).
We've done the hard work for you with a round up of the trends you need to know about before you hit the high street...
PVC and glossy vinyl fabrics were all over the catwalks last season (including Saint Laurent, Chloe and Lanvin), and one of the easiest ways to pay homage to the trend is via outerwear. Both practical and stylish, a vinyl coat is the perfect option for our unpredictable (read: rainy) weather.
Move over millennial pink, there’s a new colour to obsess over: postbox red. The sartorial equivalent of a double espresso, the red coat will up brighten up any outfit (and your mood).
Making peeling yourself out of bed in the morning approximately nine times easier, the teddy coat will keep you warm and cosy whatever the temperature. Choose a wearable soft beige or light grey shade and you’ll be able to wear it all winter long, and with any outfit.
The classic trench is a perennial coat style that never dates. For a 2017 update look for a oversized relaxed fit and fresh colourways such as bottle green, charcoal or maroon.
The oversized ‘boyfriend’ fit coat has been making waves the past few seasons, and seems to be going nowhere fast. Maybe it's the Diana influence but we're particularly loving an 80s inspired masculine coat in a grey check - a versatile and stylish addition to any wardrobe.
So in spirit of the impending winter, shop the latest drop below:
The utilitarian, military trend never seems to go out of fashion for autumn/winter, so why not invest in this double-breasted wool coat with silver buttons now and wear forever?
