This Danish Label Is Currently The A-List’s Best-Kept Secret

It's been repped by Jennifer Lawrence, Hailey Bieber and Sienna Miller.

It started at Copenhagen Fashion Week, then cropped up a few weeks later in New York. We're not talking about knee-high boots or bag charms but a leopard-spotted coat that was so fabulous that it couldn't help but turn heads. Then Jennifer Lawrence wore it and - what do you know? - it's now entirely sold out. This is bigger than just a coat, however. It's just as much about the brand, By Malene Birger, and how it's quietly become the fashion editor's best-kept secret (until now).

The Danish label has become something of quiet-luxury contemporary to brands like Toteme, another design house that delivers minimalist perfection hailing from Scandinavia – and the label responsible for the infamous scarf coat that infiltrated every Instagram feed – and has amassed a celebrity following including Hailey Bieber, Sienna Miller and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The outerwear is particularly delicious - and not just limited to leopard print. (Psst: The jacket version of that coat is still available to shop in all sizes so you best act fast if you've fallen head over heels.) It does a very brisk trade in faux fur - Kelly Rutherford posted a recent lift selfie wearing one of its fuzzy jackets - and similarly majors in the kind of stealth-wealth wool coats that will last a lifetime in your wardrobe.

But the deliciousness certainly doesn't stop there. If you're thinking ahead to summer's wedding circuit, By Malene Birger also carries the kind of strapless maxi sans bells and whistles that's the ideal dress for non-dress people. Similarly, its occasionwear co-ords, which range from sky blue to caramel brown and come with a fringe of beads or feathers, are something a bit different that's still vastly appropriate for celebrating a friend's nuptials.

I also rate the brand's timeless spin on the naked sandal trend, with caged straps of leather and a block micro heel that, together, make it a near-perfect choice for being on your feet for longer than a few hours. The influencer set has also discovered its bags, which range from sleek totes that steer clear of obvious logos to its rather brilliant insignia satchel that's all over Instagram, the Ronlas Leather Shoulder Bag.

For a brand that was founded in 2003, it's remained surprisingly under the radar - a name that's still IYKYK - for almost two decades. The leopard-print coat might have changed all that but you heard it here first.
