Zara’s Autumn Coats And Jackets Are The Best On The High Street – And Could Pass As Designer

Zara's jacket selection is notoriously one of the best on the high street.

For me, the best part of finding ourselves back in autumn is one thing and one thing only - the jackets. Hold your pumpkin-spiced lattes, your cosy evenings and your boo baskets, in my opinion, the only good thing about autumn is that I get to bring out my jacket selection. A selection I'm proud of, too. My jackets are all carefully chosen and curated over the years; some are high street, others are high end, and others are vintage, but I genuinely feel such joy in having an enviable jacket selection (that's not saying I wouldn't like to add a couple more to my collection). So, when I'm on the hunt for a high street autumn jacket, there are a few brands I tend to favour: H&M, Uniqlo and Free People, but this autumn I've only got eyes for one brand - Zara.

Zara's jacket selection is pretty well-known as one of the best on the high street, from its numerous viral suede styles to its buttery leather and classic denim jackets. Yes, the brand's jacket turnover tends to be quite high, particularly when you take into consideration the amount of sold-out styles, but that just means you have to have an eye for the best ones available (and the jackets you're likely to wear again, and again, and again). First up? Zara's Suede Leather Jacket, which you've probably seen all over your Instagram feeds recently, and, it's just been released in a new dark charcoal shade that's (somehow) still in stock.

Suede Leather JacketZara

Zara's viral Suede Leather Jacket is now available in a dark grey shade, aptly named charcoal. Made from 100% suede leather and with a funnel neckline and shoulder tabs, throw the jacket on over a t-shirt, or layer up when it gets colder.

Another standout Zara jacket is the ZW Collection Leather Collar Short Trench Coat, which makes a departure from the longer designs fashion people tend to gravitate towards. Instead, this Zara jacket features a boxier, short cut and contrasting lapel collar. Style with khaki or brown wide-leg trousers and a sheer knit top.

ZW Collection Leather Collar Short Trench CoatZara

Zara's take on a short trench coat features a light checked pattern, as well as a statement black collar and buttons. Thrown over the top of a t-shirt, or layer with a knitted jumper for an easy autumnal outfit.

As the new season settles in, Zara has quietly (and somewhat unsurprisingly) positioned itself as the go-to for excellent outerwear. Its suede jackets make autumn layering feel fresh again, and the sleek leather coats promise to carry you through winter's chill. Zara has a knack for making you believe that one more jacket is never too many, which is why, before the next drop lands, I'll be doing the only sensible thing: clearing more space in my wardrobe.

ZW Collection Limited Edition Leather Bomber JacketZara

If you're looking for a leather jacket that has all the hallmarks of a lived-in design, then the Leather Bomber Jacket from the ZW Collection is an excellent option. Made from 100% leather and with a high collar and long sleeves, style over the top of a jumper and corduroy trousers.

ZW Collection Limited Edition Reversible Trench CoatZara

This isn't any old trench coat. It's a reversible trench coat. On one side you'll find a checked design, and on the other, a classic khaki - both of which are incredibly versatile. Plus, at the neck there's also a removable faux fur trim which is perfect for adding on those extra chilly days.

Trench Coat With BeltZara

This beige trench coat is as classic as it comes - especially when it comes to nailing that oversized fit so you can layer underneath it. Other elevated details on this particular Zara design includes its long sleeves, buttoned epaulettes and double-breasted fastening.

100% Leather Long JacketZara

If suede is your vice this autumn/winter, then there's no better high street store to head to than Zara. An excellent style to have on hand for those office days, its Leather Long Jacket features front patch pockets, a lapel collar and long sleeves.

Adjustable Waist Hooded JacketZara

Everyone needs a practical coat. Suede is good until it rains, so you'll want a jacket on-hand that's also waterproof. This one will keep you dry, with its adjustable hood, snap-button and zipper fastening and adjustable waist.

ZW Collection Pleated Jacket With TabsZara

A hybrid between a trench coat and a canvas jacket, its Pleated Jacket With Tabs features a lapel collar and shoulder pads for a more polished look. The pleats also give the jacket a more elevated feel, so style it with something more casual, like a pair of baggy jeans.

Faux Suede Cropped JacketZara

For a more fitted faux suede jacket, Zara has this iteration that's available in three different colourways: ecru, khaki and camel. With a smart collar, front patch pockets and long sleeves, style the jacket with straight-leg jeans or a mini skirt and knee-high boots.

Water Repellent Padded JacketZara

A quilted jacket is a good one for the in-between weather, particularly when it's thin enough to be layered underneath a wool coat when the temperature drops. This one from Zara is excellent, with its round neck, long sleeve jacket and patch pockets.

Leather Effect Bomber JacketZara

Zara's faux leather bomber jacket is particularly good if you want a jacket that looks a lot more expensive than it is. Finished with chic details like welt pockets and buttoned cuffs, wear open, with a tank top and jeans.

ZW Collection Double-Breasted Denim JacketZara

Of course, no jacket collection is complete without a classic denim jacket. This one, from Zara's ZW Collection, is more elevated than average, with its asymmetric closure, round neck and patch pockets.
