Would You Wear The No Trousers Trend?

It's easier than you might think but, let's be honest, will still raise eyebrows...

Suki Waterhouse

Once you graduate beyond a certain age - i.e. when you're no longer wearing nappies - it isn't really the done thing to go outside with just your pants on. Or is it? Suki Waterhouse, who has been serving serious looks on the promo trail for her new show Daisy Jones & The Six, is the latest advocate of leaving your bottoms at home. Wearing a hot-off-the-catwalk look from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Suki paired a cropped faux-fur coat with denim knickers (yes, really), sheer tights and ankle-tie stilettos just yesterday for a photocall on top of the Empire State Building. Did the prospect of dizzying heights go to her head? Or is she just ahead of the curve when it comes to being economical with clothing?

Of course, she's not the only celebrity to tango with no trousers. Kendall Jenner got there first, way back in November, wearing a bodysuit and black tights combo from Bottega Veneta. Paired with a slouchy navy jumper, it's possibly a more wearable take on the trend, thanks to the opaque hosiery that could almost (almost) pass as black workout leggings.

Model Paloma Elsesser wore a similar combination - this time with a corset - for an editorial last year. Clearly, it's catching on. Of course, it's a pretty easy look to cobble together with what's already in your closet - i.e. black tights - with a body (SKIMS is obviously the gold standard when it comes to leotard-like suits with a second-skin feel).

Like Paddington Bear, you should then try to balance out the naked by piling on a number of layers (Suki wore a silk blouse, a tuxedo jacket, a corsage necklace and a furry coat with those denim briefs, don't forget). If you've got a big birthday coming up, or just fancy channeling some main character energy on your next night out, then you know what to do.
