Queen Letizia of Spain has fast become something of an international style icon. Whether she's matching with Kate Middleton or showing off her loyalty to Spanish brands, she always looks polished and put together – and yesterday was no exception, even when facing heavy rain. Letizia arrived at Spain's National Fashion Industry Awards in a black blouse, long pleated skirt and a black cape over the top. Rather than selecting her outfit from a major fashion house, the Queen proved that she loves the high street as much as we do by selecting her skirt from Massimo Dutti.

This isn't the first time she has worn the Spanish brand, either. In fact, Queen Letizia often chooses high street labels like Zara and even ASOS for official engagements, much like our very own Duchess of Cambridge.

And it seems the two women have a similar effect, too – the pleated skirt has already sold out everywhere, much like everything Kate Middleton wears. Both royals also recycle their outfits, high street or otherwise, as Letizia has done many times – just last month she was seen in a Zara top first spotted in 2018.

While you can no longer buy the exact Massimo Dutti skirt, there are a number of similar styles on the high street. As we can expect Letizia to re-wear this pleated midi at some point in the future, it seems like a sound investment to make.
