It might be beautifully sunny outside but make no mistake about it, autumn is just around the corner. It's time to stash away the sundresses - wasn't it nice to give them one last hurrah this week? - and start thinking about things like coats and boots.
Once you've dug all the autumn essentials out of your wardrobe, make a list of anything you're missing. If it's nothing, great. If it's a pair of jeans or a puffer jacket, for example, John Lewis & Partners has just what you're looking for in ANYDAY, its own-brand range that, as of September 13, is being expanded into womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware.
As the brand's most affordable range, you can expect purse-friendly prices (£6 for a T-shirt, £22 for joggers, £36 for a dress, and £48 for a jumpsuit). But this being John Lewis & Partners, there's no sacrifice on quality. All the collection's cotton is backed by the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), polyester, where possible, is 100% recycled and the viscose is Ecoveraro, the fibre's most sustainable form.
So what will you be tempted to add to your basket? The long-sleeved denim boilersuit, £48, is a winner for more creative office settings if you style with sleek leather trainers or snake-print ankle boots. Speaking of boots, the range's Chelsea, khaki-coloured and with a cleated-sole, looks much more expensive than its £59 price tag. In terms of outerwear, you can't go far wrong with a black puffer coat, which goes with everything and will keep you warm from later this month until the middle of next year (ANYDAY's is a bargain at £86).
The homewares collection, which expands on the first range launched in spring, contains space-saving furniture, like the Shelf Sofa, £399, a compact design that incorporates storage into the base of its seat. The accessories are also on-point, like the Rattan Fleur Mirror, £35, the Japandi Pendant Lampshade, £65, and the Clip Sofa Side Table, £69.
While you wait for the collection to drop next week, here all the basics you might want to add to your basket in the meantime.
