Clearly no longer content with simply being Posh, Victoria Beckham has now elevated herself to new levels of regality by announcing that she's going to be doing her own version of the Queens speech.
Where, oh where do we begin...
VB announced the news in a Youtube video today that she plans to give us her version of 'The Queen's speech - but much much much longer' in February because 'the Queen does one every year, and it's very popular' (which to be fair is very a logical reason) and went on to test her address, which will begin 'Hello fans'.
Basically, if you haven't been keeping up with Victoria Beckham you might be forgiven for making the mistake of thinking that she is still an inaccessible, rather frightening seeming front row fixture with a pout that could give you a black eye. But recently this has changed, and so has everything we thought we knew about VB of the cheekbones and armoured dark sunglasses. And it's left all of us feeling conflicted.
For starters, in just the space of the last month Victoria announced that she'd started a Youtube channel and we also discovered that she celebrates every major life event with a massive glass of wine. And - hilariously - the wine glass itself keeps getting bigger. In gods name, what is happening to Victoria Beckham? But I relate to it.
But if you've been keeping up with the gripping evolution of Victoria Beckham recently you might have also noticed that she actually has a bit of a taste for Instagram video. Namely, in just over the last month she's posted two short 'reveal' videos to the platform recently to announce the launch of her beauty brand and her youtube channel.
Is Victoria Beckham in the process of trying to re-invent herself from a celeb into an Instagram influencer? Or gunning for the Kardashian social media crown? (evidence is mounting). But whatever the reason for her sudden invention of a Victoria Beckham social media zeitgeist moment, we're sort of really into it.
After all, we live in an era where the whole notion of 'celebrity' is being redefined, and to be met with the revelation that Victoria Beckham actually has a bit of a dry sense of humour and doesn't know how to use a selfie stick is revolutionary.
Let's not forget: Victoria Beckham is a successful woman in her own right, a business owner, fashion designer and a mother. She's been through many incarnations. It's refreshing now that we've moved out of reductive and sexist notions of WAG-dom to which the world defined her in for so long. VB even revealed recently that she raises her family on feminist principles, revealing to Grazia that she runs a 'pro-female' household 'I say to Harper all the time, it’s not about who is the prettiest girl in the class, it’s not about who is the smartest girl in the class, it’s about who is the kindest girl in the class. And it’s about feeling good about yourself, celebrating that and supporting other women.' Victoria explained 'David and I have always communicated that message with the boys, too – that’s always been very important to us. It’s always been a very pro-female household, even when we were outnumbered.’
So does Victoria Beckham have every royal right to make a queens speech if she feels like it? Of course she does! Victoria: we raise our oversized wine glass and salute you.
