Selena Gomez has announced her engagement to partner Benny Blanco after 18 months of dating – and it seems the wedding will be quite the star-studded affair.
The 32-year-old singer and actress took to Instagram – where she is the world’s most followed woman – to share the happy news with her 423million followers, captioning a photo of a huge diamond ring on her finger, ‘forever begins now..’
Her photo carousel also included images of her looking lovingly down at her hand as she sat on a picnic blanket, a selfie of her beaming as she shows off her ring and a sweet image of Benny kissing her on the head.
Only Murders In The Building star Selena confirmed she was dating music producer Benny, 36, last December, saying at the time that they had been together for six months. Selena’s friend Taylor Swift was amongst the first to comment on the post, quickly confirming her attendance at the nuptials by writing. ‘Yes I will be the flower girl.’
Benny himself commented, writing, ‘Hey wait… that’s my wife.’
Messages of congratulations came from other celebrity pals including Nina Dobrev, Suki Waterhouse, Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell amongst others. Nina wrote, ‘YES !!!! Congratulations!!!!! So happy for you both!!!!,’ while Suki penned, ‘Congratulations beauty!’
Pretty Little Liars stars Ashley and Shay wrote, ‘Congrats lovey. So happy for you’ and ‘Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!’ respectively.
And the official Instagram account for Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place – where Selena found her big break in 2007 – sweetly commented, ‘Congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of magic together.’ Benny shared the images to his own 1.8million Instagram followers.
Benny discussed his relationship with Selena during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show back in May.
He said, ‘She's just like the best, most genuine person. Everything is completely real. Everyday when I wake up, I, like, walk by the mirror as I'm, like, walking to her and I ask myself, “How did I get here”.
‘She's one of the sweetest, one of the most charming, one of the most humble people I've ever met.’
Selena and Benny worked together on the song I Can’t Get Enough in 2019, before he produced her 2023 hit Single Soon.
The engagement is not the only piece of good news Selena has received this week as she was nominated for two Golden Globes for her roles as Jessi Del Monte in Emilia Pérez and Mabel Mora in OMITB.
She shared a sweet video of herself reacting in shock as she watched the nominations announcement at home in her pyjamas.
Hearing that she was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture alongside her co-star Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez, she gasped and covered her mouth.
She wrote atop the clip, ‘I don’t even know what to write.. I’m so proud of @zoesaldana and I am so grateful and honored @goldenglobes.’
And earlier this year she became the latest celebrity to become a billionaire with her make-up company Rare Beauty helping her to amass a fortune of £1bn ($1.3bn).
