Donald Trump’s UK visit seemingly caused a stir within the Royal Family this week as it appears Princess Anne refused to shake the US President’s hand, despite being prompted to do so by the Queen herself. A video of the interaction has since circulated online and had led to waves of support for Anne for her nonchalant attitude.

The eight second video, that features both Donald and Melania Trump greeting the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles shows Princess Anne waiting on one side of the encounter. As the Queen signals for her to come over with a scolding look and hand movement, Anne appears to shrug and laugh before the Queen nods in response.

Naturally upon seeing the video, the world jumped to Anne's praise. However, since the footage was released some impartial bystanders have jumped in to add context. Apparently, Anne may not have been snubbing Trump at all, sigh.

According to the Press Association's Laura Elston, the Queen was asking Anne who was next in line to greet her at which pointed Anna shrugged and said 'it's just me', then adding 'and this lot' as she pointed to the rest of the household.

Another video however does seem to show Anne mocking Trump. Joining Justin Trudeau, Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron, the group appear to engage in a bitching session about the president. Leaked footage from the event shows them discussing his earlier press conference and laughing about his behaviour.

‘People are surprised that Princess Anne can hang? That woman once was the victim of an attempted kidnapping and when she was told to get out of her car at gunpoint she said, "Not bloody likely." A true bad bitch,’ another added.

The encounter comes as waves of support for Anne have increased with the latest season of The Crown, in which she is a surprising fan-favourite for her no nonsense approach to royal drama. The apt portrayal of her personality has seen her rise in the ranks of popularity, bring out notable moments of her life where she proved she truly does not give one shit.

For example, after said kidnapping attempt, according to National Archives released by the police, she told officers, ‘it was all so infuriating. I kept saying I didn't want to get out of the car, and I was not going to get out of the car. I nearly lost my temper with him, but I knew that if I did, I should hit him and he would shoot me.’

On another occasion, she told photographers to ‘naff off’ and has famously refused to shake the hands of fans her whole life. It seems that, in the current wave of stanning women who could not care less about what’s expected of them, she is a true icon.
