X has recently been hit with an avalanche of speculation that Hailey Bieber is pregnant, which heightened last week with a video of her spending time with husband Justin Bieber in Hawaii, and their subsequent absence from The Met Gala.
'Ayo Hailey Bieber is definitely pregnant,' said one user when the pap footage emerged, before harmfully adding, 'That dress and those legs will never lie and they are also not attending [The] Met Gala. BABY BIEBER IS COMING.'
As others called out the insolent comments, the original tweeter clarified, 'Have you ever noticed a pregnant woman sitting, their posture changes and it's what I'm talking about.'
Hailey, 27, and Justin, 30, are regular attendees at the annual Met Gala but skipped this year's event, which propelled the pregnancy rumour mill further.
'That girl Hailey Bieber definitely pregnant bcos ain't no way she told us she’d be there this year and not show up,' one tweet read. A second speculated, 'If Hailey Bieber doesn’t show up to the MET then that means she [is] pregnant.'
Others, however, ran with the narrative as if it had been formally confirmed. 'HAILEY BIEBER IS PREGNANT OMG so happy for them,' they wrote.
The pregnancy whispers feel intrusive, especially as no one truly knows what goes on behind closed doors - and nor is it anyone's business. Also the conjecture could not be more ill-timed, especially as Justin, 30, has been documenting his turmoil lately.
He prompted concern on social media last month when he shared photos of himself crying, with a source telling Entertainment Tonight: 'Hailey has been doing her best to be there for Justin, but it is upsetting for her to see him struggle. They are doing their best to make things work and be supportive of each other. They are committed to doing whatever it takes to make things better.' The source added that the Baby hitmaker has been 'facing some difficulties lately' and 'hasn't been feeling like his usual self'.
The couple - who tied the knot in 2018 - have openly discussed the prospect of starting a family together. In May 2023, Hailey admitted that she 'cries all the time' about the idea of having children, explaining, 'I want kids so bad but I get scared. It's enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can't imagine having to confront people saying things about a child. We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.'
Three years earlier, Justin said he's willing to have 'as many as Hailey is wishing to push out' when it comes to having babies. 'I'd love to have myself a little tribe. But, yeah, it's her body and whatever she wants to do... I think she wants to have a few,' he said.
In a nutshell, the relentless internet guesswork into whether Hailey Bieber is pregnant needs to stop.
As another X user commented: 'If Hailey Bieber is pregnant, she’ll tell us when she wants to or feels we need to know. Anybody running those rumours as breaking news for the purpose of being able to tell you first is an a**hole. WHY DO WE FEEL LIKE WE’RE ENTITLED TO OTHER PEOPLE’S NEWS? Stop!' Spot on.
