Georgia Toffolo has candidly discussed how her acne breakouts left her 'living in fear'.
The former Made in Chelseastar investigated the multi-billion-pound acne industry for an ITV documentary last November, In Search of Perfect Skin, and revealed the lengths she would go to to 'fake the confidence I didn't have inside'.
The 28 year old said, 'I had such a horrendously low opinion of myself. It was like hatred, anger, why, why do you have this?
'Going back to that time I actually feel quite upset because it is something that I don't really talk about now.'
The reality star - who commonly goes by Toff - thought her acne would improve with age, but instead found it harder to cope with after finding fame on Made in Chelsea.
She continued, 'I was living in such fear of someone finding out how severe it was. I was getting up three hours early – layers, powder, more concealer, constantly faking the confidence that I didn't have inside.'
During an appearance on Lorraine last year, Torquay-born Georgia further detailed the impact of her 'all-consuming' acne battle.
'I don't think I would have had the confidence to do my career because of my acne before,' she confessed. 'Acne starts when you're really young, in your formative years. Mine started when I was 13, I've been open about it and gone to great lengths to hide it.'
Georgia has been using Instagram to raise awareness about the documentary, calling it a 'project very close to my heart'.
Addressing her 1.7m followers, she wrote, 'Thank you thank you thank you for your support these past few weeks, I am so proud of this project and thrilled the show has resonated with so many of you!', adding on another, 'Don’t forget, our skin doesn’t define us'.
It has clearly struck a chord with viewers, as one wrote, 'Thank you for talking about this, [it's] so important to show support about acne and finding the options out there! This means so much to all of us who [are] struggling with acne! You’re a huge role model - one of the first celebrities who have shown the world their real skin - and we thank you for it.'
