Though the classic shelfie still holds undeniable clout on our social media feeds, recently there’s been a definite shift in the way we’re showcasing our interiors online. It’s as if our focus has zoomed outwards a little: stylishly arranged and usually featuring some variant of house plant, well put-together corners keep grabbing our attention. But are they as effortless as they appear on our Instagram feeds?

With this in mind, each week we’ll be asking one influencer to talk us through the most curated spot in their house. For our latest Story of a Corner, Georgia Toffolo shows us around her favourite spot in her living room, complete with Jo Malone candles and Jilly Cooper novels...

The space

My favourite corner at home is in my sitting room - I adore books (as you can probably tell, Jilly Cooper features rather heavily) and this corner represents one of my favourite hobbies pretty well. I'm definitely a minimalist, a bit of a clean freak and hate clutter (something I inherited from my mum Nicky and granny Denise) so I try to keep this wall clear of trinkets and decorations except for my beloved books. The wallpaper is a statement so I don't think the room needs anything else!

The wallpaper

Having a fun wallpaper means this room isn’t too serious and I love a touch of silver to make it feel more contemporary. It's called "It's Greek to me" by Phillip Jeffries- it gives the room more depth which is exactly what it needed! I adore a grey palette in interiors and this has the perfect balance between a neutral background and a pattern.

The books

As you can see I am a cook book fanatic! I hardly experiment in the kitchen but I just adore flicking through these books as they are so inspiring and beautifully made- my favourites are Yotam Ottolenghi's.

The clothes

I’m a fan of “sorbet” colours and these two dresses are just what I like to wear at the races - I adore the pleated detail in the Maje pink dress and the scallops on the Red Valentino (which I found in the most fabulous second hand designer shop)!

The details

I am obsessed with candles and this one (lime basil & mandarin) by Jo Malone is my favourite, it can change my mood instantly! Dainty jewellery is my go-to for most days - I have petite features so I like jewellery that isn’t the main focus on my outfit. The lamp was a gift and I adore it, the grey shade works really well with the wallpaper and it goes really well with my silver candelabra.

Georgia Toffolo will be attending QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse this Saturday 20 October. For tickets visit: britishchampionsday.co.uk
