Blue Ivy Carter can add yet another accomplishment to her long list of life achievements as she debuts on the Billboard Top 100 chart with ‘Brown Skin Girl’, a song she appeared in alongside SAINt JHN, Wizkid and her mother – Beyoncé, in case you didn’t know. That’s right, at seven-years-old, Blue Ivy is already a charting singer – and it’s not her only record she’s broken in her short lifetime.
And yet, she still doesn’t have her own Wikipedia page. A massive oversight as far as we’re concerned. But alas, we will do the work for them and give you all an insight into everything Beyoncé and Jay Z’s child has achieved in childhood that we never will. Here’s the long list for you…
She was the youngest ever person to appear on a Billboard chart
At two days old, Jay Z recorded Blue’s cries and used them in the outro of his song Glory – which detailed his and Beyoncé’s struggle with conceiving. Debuting on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, the song became Blue’s – then credited just as B.I.C – first hit after just 48 hours on this earth.
She earned the respect of the entire music industry when she put the two most powerful people in their place
That would be, her mother and father. Back in 2018, Blue attended her first Grammy’s with her parents and actually shushed them during a speech by Camila Cabella. As the former Fifth Harmony singer delivered an emotional speech about immigration, Beyoncé and Jay Zbegan to clap – only for Blue to shush them with so much assertiveness you would think she was their parents. We were obsessed – and frankly, the viral moment made her a Queen in the eyes of many.
She bid on £15,000 art at six-years-old
Blue has always had taste, and more than that, the riches to translate that taste into fabulous interior decoration. Because, at just six-years-old, Blue was bold enough to bid on a $19,0000 work of art during an auction at the Wearable Art Gala in LA in 2019. Raising her paddle before Jay-Z swiftly put it down, the auctioneer went on to say that her parents are clearly instilling in her the importance of gathering a great art collection. She definitely knows more than we do about the art world, that’s for sure.
She’s an honorary citizen of Croatia
Okay, so this wasn’t her own doing – but still, at seven-years-old, most of this list isn’t really is it. Apparently, after it was revealed that Blue was named after a tree Beyoncé and Jay-Z spotted while holidaying there, the mayor of Croatian town Hvar, Mayor Pjerino Bebic wrote a letter to her parents informing them she was now an honorary citizen.
‘The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar,’ he wrote, ‘Because of this, I have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town of Hvar.’
The Blue-Ivy effect does not just translate into clothing sales, it seems.
She’s the youngest person to chart on the Billboard Top 100
And finally, her most recent achievement. Not only was Blue a scene-stealer in the Brown Skin Girl video, but she also garnered her first top 100 charting for her part in the song. Charting at 76, the song both opens and closes with Blue’s singing – and if Twitter’s reaction is anything to go by everyone absolutely adored it.
According to Tina Lawson, Blue has been performing ‘since birth’, telling Us Weekly that she ‘hasn’t decided’ what career she’ll pursue, but it’s impossible not to be a singer given the family she comes from. Alas, this likely won’t be the first top 100 chart we see from Blue. Watch this space, we can see a number one in her future.
