Those of you who are already addicted to Pinterest will already know that it's a digital wonderland for virtual inspiration, but were you aware that you could actually use it to find your perfect shade of foundation? It turns out, that when using the Pinterest app (this doesn't work on the web version of Pinterest, btw), if you type 'foundation shades' into the search bar and hit 'enter' you'll see a bar appear at the top of your search results. The bar displays quartered tabs of colour swatches. If you select the one closest to your own skin tone, your search results will re-shuffle to display only those relative to the shade range you selected. From there you can click through to online stores and purchase the foundation. There are so many brands to choose from, from NARS to YSL Beauty, and over 10,000 foundation shades linked through Pinterest. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Pinterest can match you to your perfect shade of foundation. Another little tip? Refine your search results to 'Product Pins' to ensure every Pinterest result that pops up is shop-able.

The revelation is all the more valuable now that social distancing restrictions and an emphasis on COVID-secure practices mean that we can no longer simply wander into a high street store and try out a drop of foundation on the back of your hand. Cosmetics stores and brands the world over have been coming up with other ways of helping us shot, and Pinterest seems to have stepped up to the plate too (see more ways to shop foundation online here).
You Can Try On Lipsticks Too
You can actually 'try on' lipsticks via the Pinterest app too. Search for lipstick shades, remembering to specify 'Product Pins' and hit the little camera icon in the search bar for an AR trying on experience via your phone. You can filter your results by what's likely to suit your skin tone too. Honestly, the possibilities are endless.
