The world is not short of hair tools. There are game-changing multi-stylers that can create a plethora of looks with a few quick strokes, new-gen straighteners that use AI to create a smooth finish and 2-in-1 wet stylers that take your hair from just-washed to party-ready with minimal effort. Given the countless options out there, each primed to cater to our various needs, it is always a big deal when one manages to stand out of the crowd by commanding attention with nothing more than incredible results. If you've taken to TikTok of late, you'll have noticed one tool do just that: theBondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush, £81.

Only launched in May earlier this year, the tool has already amassed an impressive following of beauty buffs who have fallen for its ability to quickly whip up an easy 90s supermodel-like bouncy blow out, without any heat damage. In fact, it's so in-demand, the global best-seller previously sold out in the UK when it launched, as well as the US and Australia.

Even beauty doyenne Huda Kattan is on board, taking to social media to demo the styler on her own hair, she said, 'This is the best styling tool I have EVER used, this is amazing, it's the most smoothing tool. I am so impressed, so much less damaging for my hair. I'm just obsessed with this! I didn't use anything else on my hair, apart from heat protect.' Since discovering the product, Kattan is so taken by its results, she has given up having her hair blow dried.

Given its compelling track record, we put the viral best-seller to the test.

What is the BondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush?

Australian-based brand BondiBoost has built up a good reputation for creating solution-based products intent on remedying our hair woes, including - the brand says - thickness, texture, breakage, length, volume and flakiness, all with the help of high-quality products made from natural organic ingredients.

The BondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush is a product of the brand's strong healthy hair ethos. Unlike other hot air brush tools, the styler is a thermal round brush that styles hair without the need for hot air. Perfect for dry hair when you're in between wash days, it quickly creates effortless volume and a covetable 90s style bounce, all while smoothing and boosting shine.

The impressive results are down to its clever use of tech. In a revolutionary move, BondiBoost uses infrared technology (not to be confused with red LED light). While a somewhat new frontier in the beauty world in comparison to LED therapy, infrared is understood to have anti-inflammatory effects on the skin, as well as stimulating its healing process and promoting collagen and elastin production. In the styler, infrared technology uses negative ions to penetrate the inner layers of hair, heating it from the inside out, to seal the hair cuticle for a smooth, shiny finish. Gently heating hair in this way, causes less damage than traditional forms of heat styling and thus maintains good hair health.

The addition of aloe-infused bristles, a locally sourced key ingredient in the brand's line up, also works to reduce frizz, static and flyaways, while adding shine and keeping hair nourished.

My honest review of the BondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush

I don't get them very often but if I ever find myself in a hairdresser's chair I will only ever ask for one style: a bouncy blow dry. My obsession with the look means that, once I'm sitting in the hot seat, I spend all my time watching the pro at work, trying to guess how they create the look in the hope that I can one day replicate it myself at home. Of course, I've never been able to, until now.

I was admittedly skeptical at how a tool that claims to create a bouncy blow out can do so without the need of hot air, which, any good hairdresser will tell you, is key to creating volume, lift and body. But the BondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush would suggest otherwise.

After using it weekly for the past month, I've found it truly mimics the look of a salon-worthy bounce, all without having to leave the house. As advised by the user guide, I use it post-wash, once my hair is fully dry. Working section by section, I brush through my hair with one pass of the tool for an extra sleek finish, then starting at the ends, I hold the brush at a 45 degree angle and roll my hair around the brush. I keep the brush in place for no more than 15 seconds before unraveling gently in the opposite direction. To create a more defined curl I twist once unravelled.

Once complete, I'm left with healthy-looking, smooth hair that boasts lasting volume and bounce, and could easily pass for a salon 'do. In fact, when I arrived at the office this morning, a colleague took one look at my freshly done hair and said, 'You have Hollywood hair!' Enough said.
