Beauty Works has quietly crept into the beauty hall of fame over the last few years. Since launching the brand over 10 years ago from her flat, founder Penelope Cheshire has been intent on achieving one thing: helping women feel confident through hair enhancements. Since then she has transformed her luxury hair extension line into a full-frontal haircare brand, boasting everything from shampoos, oils and heat protectors to heat styling tools, all stocked at our favourite big retailers.
Need more proof? Look to the roster of familiar faces who have put their name to the brand. Molly Mae's collaboration with Beauty Works saw her develop a range of award-winning 'kits' to help recreate her signature style. And now, the Insta-favourite hair range gears up to unveil its biggest launch of the year as it welcomes its newest brand ambassador: Maya Jama.
The brand had remained tight lipped ahead of the big reveal, taking to Instagram to tease the identity of its new ambassador by posting a short suggestive video of nothing but a corset-wearing silhouette – with great-looking hair, of course – alongside the caption 'Get ready for our biggest launch yet, featuring our newest brand ambassador...Leave your guesses below👀 13.05.2024'.
Eagle eyed followers were quick to do just that, jumping into the comment section to guess who the new ambassador really was and most led back to two top contenders: Maya Jama and Georgia Steele. 'To me, the walk says Maya Jama and the side profile says Georgia Steele. This is surprisingly tricky!' said one follower.
Both guesses were smart choices. But Beauty Works has finally revealed Jama as its latest recruit. Speaking at the Beauty Works X Maya Jama collection launch with XL lengths and full fringe in place, Jama said, 'I'm hoping this is going to be a revolution of fake fringes everywhere, just like on-off, on-off. Especially if you're like me and you get greasy hair and you don't want to do a full blow dry, this [clip-in fringe] covers your scalp. So, greasy hair day? Whack on the fringe. Tired and can't be bothered to brush? Fringe and a hat. It's just a good problem solver and quick fix for a nice glam night out, too.'
We were quick on the mark with our suspicions about Jama's next move. Why? She is a fan of the brand, having had its professional extensions fitted in several times. Then there's the fact that, according to various reports, the Love Island host had recently 'signed a six-figure deal with a huge hair brand.' Jama also already holds serious weight in the beauty arena with a number of impressive beauty accolades under her belt, including being the face of Rimmel London, fronting Maybelline campaigns, and let's not forget her own line of skincare masks MIJ.
So what can we expect from the collaboration? Jama brings five limited edition shades to the table that offer a spectrum of natural-looking, nuanced colours from deep dark brunettes to buttery blonde, all available in three forms: ready-to-wear clip-in wefts, clip-fringes (of course, it's her signature style after all) and XXS wefts which are specifically designed for professional application. Intent on revolutionising the hair extension category, Jama's newest collaboration is set to make waves (literally).
