If you remember, back to the days of 2015, Jeremy Clarkson had to leave Top Gear, after an ‘unprovoked physical attack’ on a producer. After Jezza left, the Richard Hammond and James May also left the BBC, moving over to Amazon for The Grand Tour.
Over on the BBC, even with Joey Tribbiani{
Now Jeremy has shared his wisdom, explaining why he thinks less people want to see middle-aged men drive cars. And, according to him, it has something to do with climate activist/hero, Greta Thunberg. Speaking to The Sun, Jeremy said, ‘Everyone I know under 25 isn’t the slightest bit interested in cars — Greta Thunberg has killed the car show. They’re taught at school, before they say “Mummy and Daddy” that cars are evil, and it’s in their heads.’
Oh, and apparently Richard Hammond agrees. ‘I hate to say it, but I think Jeremy is right,’ he said. ‘Young people don’t care about cars. How many kids now are growing up with posters of cars on their bedroom wall?’
Considering Greta Thunberg was 12 when Jeremy and co left the BBC, we don’t think she entirely killed the car show. (Though not going to lie, we would love to see Greta as the star in a reasonably priced car.)
Though her message seems to have got through to Clarkson, who will address climate change in the next month's episode The Grand Tour Presents: Seamen which will see Clarkson, May and Hammond make a 500-mile trip from Cambodia to Vietnam.
