The 95th Academy Awards was a lot less dramatic than the preceding year, with not a single slap in sight. But there is one particular moment from last night's red carpet that has quickly become a taking point: a very awkward encounter between Hugh Grant and Ashley Graham, which has been dubbed the 'worst Oscars interview ever'.

The actor clearly wasn't playing ball when the model - who has been lauded for her 'grace' and 'persistence' - quizzed him during the prestigious event.

Ashley, 35, began by asking 62-year-old Hugh if he was excited at the prospect of any certain actors winning, to which he responded, 'No, not one in particular.'

The host then switched up her line of questioning to what he was wearing.

'Just my suit,' came his blunt response.

But perhaps the most uncomfortable turn of conversation came when Ashley raised the Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion, which received a nod for Best Adapted Screenplay and stars Hugh in a cameo appearance.

She asked, 'So tell me what was it like to be in Glass Onion? It was such an amazing film. I really loved it. How is it to shoot something like that?'

The Love Actually star retorted, 'Well, I'm barely in it. I'm in it for about three seconds.'

Maintaining her composure despite the tricky response, Ashley said, 'Yeah, but still, you showed up and you had fun, right?' Hugh replied, 'Um, almost.'

Ashley seemed to realise the interview was a lost cause and wrapped it up, with Hugh appearing to pull a confused expression before walking off.

'Hugh, If you don't want to be there go home. Worst Oscars interviews ever,' one viewer tweeted.

Echoing this sentiment, another penned, 'Wow @ashleygraham just earned her paycheck on that interview with Hugh Grant. She was gracious and persistent through his obvious desire to not be there. Why agree to an interview if you have no interest in participating?'

Another was adamant they had caught the film star 'rolling his eyes'.

However, many sided with Hugh, as one referred to his renowned sarcasm. 'Hugh Grant wasn’t rude like so many people have posted, I don’t think the interviewer or the people who think he was rude know Hugh Grant.'
