Spencer Matthews is believed to be in the early stages of making a documentary which will follow the tragic story of his brother, who died climbing down Everest. Spencer's brother, Michael, was an experienced mountaineer, but he tragically passed away at the age of 22 in 1999.
Michael had become the youngest Brit to scale the mountain, but, due to bad weather, he became separated from his group on the way down the mountain. Following his death, the family set up The Michael Matthews Foundation, which supports education projects in Africa and Asia.
According to The Sun, the documentary is being supported by Spencer's wife, Vogue{
The insider added: 'It’s a very tough film to make, but Spencer has the backing of his parents David and Jane, as well as James and Pippa. For years the family have raised funds in Michael’s name and for Spencer, if they can get the project off the ground, it is going to be for his family and Michael.'
Before his Everest trek, Michael had climbed the Swiss Alps, the Pyrenees and Kilimanjaro. The adventurer went on the trip with a climbing company, which cost £22,000. Spencer and Michael's dad, David, had previously brought a case against three men who worked for the firm, but the case was dismissed as the judge said there was no evidence of negligence.
