Olivia Colman has landed her next big role - in The Simpsons.

In a slightly unexpected move, the Fleabag actress will star as ‘femme fatale’ out to seduce Homer Simpson.

And, unsurprisingly, it’s already been branded as ‘one of the best guest appearances in Simpson's history{ =nofollow}’.

Confirming the role, the show's executive producer James L. Brooks tweeted on Friday, ‘Just this second came from recording one of the best guest appearances in Simpson's history.

‘No kidding, I am flying. Olivia Colman playing the most down-home femme fatal ever who attracts every man she's ever met but falls hard, harder than she ever imagined, for Homer Simpson.’

John Legend, Chrissy Teigen{ =nofollow}, and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa are also set to appear in the show’s upcoming 31st season.

While we’re already excited for The Simpsons, Colman will return to screens on November 17 for Netflix’s The Crown - but the actress recently revealed filling Claire Foy’s shoes as Queen Elizabeth hasn't been an easy job.

‘It’s horrendous,’ she told EW{ =nofollow}. ‘Everyone loves Claire Foy, so I have got the worst job in the world at the moment.’

‘The first week, I did feel myself trying to do Claire impressions,’ she added. ‘What would she have done? It’s the same as any classical play you do — everyone will have already played that part before.'
