Love Island's Haris Namanihas spoken out about the controversial fight footage that emerged during his time in the villa. Addressing the shocking video, Haris said it was a 'heat of the moment' incident and claimed that the video did not show everything that had happened.
He said, 'I'm devastated that this video has been seen, it's not a reflection of my character. I'm not someone that goes looking for fights and I didn't want to be in that situation. This was a heat of the moment thing. Haris continued, 'The video doesn't show everything that happened. Afterwards we met up and we cleared the air; we've shaken hands and we get along now. It's not something that would happen again.'
The 21-year-old also faced some tension in the villa after getting into an argument with fellow Islander, Shaq Muhammad. Haris opened up about the row which ended up with the pair being held apart by Islanders over a game of beer pong. When Haris brought up David Salako kissing Tanya Manhenga, Shaq labelled him 'a sh**t stirrer.'
Commenting on the blow-up, Haris insisted that he is still friends with Shaq and they put their disagreement aside the rest of his time in the villa. Haris said, 'Yeah [we’re friends]. I knew 100% nothing would have come from that disagreement and we would hug it out. I said sorry for my part and he said the same and that’s it. He added, 'We were the first two in and we got along after that as normal.'
Haris was dumped from the villa in yesterday's dramatic episode after Australian bombshells Jessie Wynter and Aaron Waters had to select who to send packing. Whilst Haris' dumping was rumoured to stem from the fight footage, apparently this is not the case. TV Insiders reportedly told the MailOnline that Haris left the villa as part of a planned eviction after a public vote and it is 'just a coincidence that his departure came hours after the video was unearthed'.
Responding to a request for comment regarding the footage and Haris' involvement in the reality series, a Love Island spokesperson said, 'Language and behaviour in the villa is always closely monitored, and islanders are reminded of what we consider acceptable during their time on the show.' They added, 'Extensive duty of care protocols for all islanders includes video training and guidance covering language and behaviour.'
