So, Love Island is finally getting some drama... but is it real? Fans aren't convinced. A teaser for tonight's episode made it clear that the tension between Olivia Hawkins and Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown will only continue to grow. Whilst they have both been fighting over bombshell Tom Clare, Love Island fans are not convinced that this is the true origin of their drama. Viewers are split into two camps: one side believes the girls have some unresolved issues from outside the villa, and the other think they both planned this drama in order to create a stir on the show.
Love Island fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the conspiracy. One fan wrote, 'I think they cooked up this plan together to create drama on the show.' Whilst another said, 'I wish they would just allow Olivia and Zara to admit that they know each other outside the show. We need to know the backstory to their beef.' It has also been noted that the pair are BOTH actresses and could be attempting to grab the spotlight.
As we've seen in past series, we all know that creating drama in the villa ensures the focus is on you. Islanders like Ekin-Su, Maura Higgins and Faye Winterset the standard and have very successful careers today. With the Islanders social media accounts being put on hold this year, they all know they have to make an impression to ensure they are remembered.
Last year's Islander Coco Lodge recently told her fans on TikTok that if she could give any advice to future Islanders, it would be to 'cause drama.' She explained, 'If you're causing drama the producers will not kick you out because they want to keep you in for good TV. It's also good for us as viewers because sometimes watching can be boring but if you're more interesting, you will be a memorable character.' Perhaps Olivia and Zara are taking a page from their books to make sure they get their moment.
Last week it was revealed that they both have history after fans spotted them commenting on eachother's Instagram posts. I think we're all still confused as to why the show hasn't addressed the fact that Olivia and Zara know each other. In the past, Islanders' ex's or friend's will walk into the villa and production will make it known.
The moment Zara walked through the door Olivia was on the defence. Zara and Olivia had some tension during the game of beer pong, but the fact Olivia is still holding on so deeply to an opinion days later means there has to be a lot more to this story. It leaves room for speculation as to whether this drama is just heavily produced in order to boost up the ratings. Let's be honest, this storyline makes very gripping viewing and this series has been suffering a rating's slump...
