We were about 12 minutes into thenew series of Winter Love Islandwhen Twitter found its new most quotable moment... and national debate.

Haris Namani became Twitter's most talked-about when he threw in yet another body standard for women... their shoe size. Cooooooool.

The contestant - who says his mum says he looks Cristiano Ronaldo - said he absolutely could NOT TAKE if a girl had a shoe size over 5.

Not content with oversharing in his VT when he was introduced, Haris doubled-down on his bizarre standard, repeating it to Maya Jama. We absolutely loved her push back, telling him: 'You can’t be that strict down to the foot size!’

She also shared that she sadly would be outside of his ideal... we bet she was absolutely devastated. FWIW, the internet claims Maya Jama is a size 6. Just missed out there, soz Maya.

The internet of course took to its usual and slated Haris and had a good laugh about his bizarre comments. But it's not that much of a surprise to see someone on Love Island make a bizarre statement about what they will and won't stand for preference wise. Remember the year they all went on about loving white nail varnish for ages? It's worth saying it's not just always the boys who are like this... remember the obsession with gym boys from the ladies too?

Of course, not that it should matter or make it ok either way, but shoe size seemed all the more frustrating a standard given YOU CAN'T CONTROL YOUR SHOE SIZE.

It also obviously (like the white nails) that it's not really about shoe size is it? Most women who heard those comments knew what probably really he meant... he meant he was looking for petite. And that kind of coded fetishisation of body standards is something women have to live with daily.

Maybe we've fallen into Haris' trap and he just knew it was a line that would get everyone talking... but we can't apologise, it's January, it's Love Island, what else are we supposed to do with our time?

Will he go full Jake Cornish with his foot fetish though... that's yet to be seen... But we can only hope, hope not, that is.
