Watching Love Island this year, there were a few moments when things got slightly heated. Near 25,000 Ofcom complaints about Faye Winter worth of heated. At the time, many viewers wondered what was going on in the villa for islanders to lose their temper so quickly, with islanders like Georgia Townsend explaining that being on Love Island can be very high stress.
Well, if Kaz Kamwi’s latest interview is anything to go by, we think we’ve figured it out. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Kaz was asked who the worst person to live with in the villa was, and she admitted that none of the islanders cleaned up after themselves except Brad McClelland and Faye… who were left to do everyone’s tidying for them.
ICYMI, part of the deal of staying in the Love Island villa is that all of the islanders have to clean up themselves – with 2019 contestant Yewande Biala admitting it was the most surprising part of being on Love Island for her. ‘The villa was always clean when you watched it but you never really think that the islanders actually have to clean and do the dishes,’ she explained after leaving. ‘I had to wash the toilets and it was really disgusting.’
Just the image of Faye and Brad cleaning everyone’s bathroom and kitchen messiness brings us serious university halls vibes. Remember those days? When you had to choose to either accept the muck you were going to live in – and boy, could it get MUCKY – or be the parents of the group, cleaning everyone’s crap after each party and most likely, resenting them all for it. But hey, at least they always stopped those classic university illnesses (of which there are always 1000s) from spreading through the whole flat.
Well, it seems like Faye and Brad chose to be the parents of the group, perhaps the basis of why Brad called Faye his best female friend in the villa when he left. The same goes for Kaz and Liberty Poole, although on opposite counts, because just as Liberty left Jake Cornish after he said her messiness gave him ‘the ick’, Kaz admitted she was one of the messiest in the villa herself.
I was one of the annoying people who didn’t lift a finger.
‘I was one of the annoying people who didn’t lift a finger,’ she told Cosmo. ‘I was probably one of the worst. There were some days when I was like, “I’m going to make myself breakfast” and then someone would be like, “Oh Kaz, I’ll make you something.” Why am I going to say no?’
Tyler confirmed Kaz’s propensity for some messiness adding, ‘Kaz didn’t want to lift a finger! It’s when you finish with your plate, you put it in the sink and you walk away. And I’d [jokingly] be like, “Ah, Kaz.. That’s out of order.”
So, there you have it: throw a bunch of messy people into a villa with two clean freaks and you’ve got yourself some serious tension, no manipulative challenges necessary. We might be stretching on the excuses for Faye here, but you can’t say being the villa maid for a bunch of 20-somethings wouldn’t add to your stresses too…
